[✝]Psalm 57:1

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.[✝]

[The Archbishop nearly leapt out of his skin at the unmistakable brogue, and whirled around to meet the formidable stature of his subordinate.]

Anderson?!

[Hands were raised in a defensive manner at how jumpy his chief was at the moment. The paladin seemed somewhat displeased... with the man standing before him. However a torrent of emotion ran through his mind as he carefully observed the smaller man. Slowly his arms lowered, as his voice caught in his throat.]

Aye...

[After the initial shock and the rather unexplained tension he felt in his chest from the prospect of seeing the man, Maxwell relaxed somewhat. As much as was possible for him in the least.]

Where in God's name have you been? I've been stuck in this cesspool for days with those damn Hellsings breathing down my neck and every other sort of abomination baying for my blood!

[There's something out there, in the fog. Something that had bright enough colors to almost be seen, a clear clacking sound against the pavement.

A pause...]

... Another

to try the church?

[Archaic Japanese. Loud enough to be heard, soft enough to be clearly aimed at no one. And the main reason it was loud enough... was because the speaker was quite suddenly, and quite inexplicably, not more than five feet away from the panicked man. Slate blue eyes watching him with the usual degree of calm neutrality that he seemed to hold towards just about everyone.]

There is

a guardian here... that you should be aware of.

[The chime-like sound of the stranger's voice had the holy man's heckles rising. Maxwell turned with a iron click, his Vatican Issued 11mm pistol trained on... What the hell was it? The archaic markings, the pointed ears, the pale flesh, that strange dialect he could not place... Whatever he was, he was sure it wasn't human, and thus an abomination that needed extermination.]

I am Archbishop Enrico Maxwell, in the name of God you will stay back from me, demon!

[He was still trying to fully grasp English, only a few phrases and words learned at this point. The usual 'My name is, I am' such and such... And of course by this point he knew the word 'demon', and he was well aware of who the term was being aimed at.

So first he was a murderer at home, then he was dubbed a devil worshiper here... And now he was a demon.

... Seemed logical.

Instead of focusing on the insult, he turned to the mans name, trying it out.]

Enriko Makusuweru.

[There was a thin smile. He didn't know what an Archbishop was, nor did he particularly care. And the gun hardly bothered him.]

... How charming.

[Enrico blinked out of bemusement at the bastardization of his name, lowing the jittery gun only slightly.]

No, En-Ri-co Max-well, you, you.. whatever you are!

[The stranger's tongue was undoubtedly foreign to him. While Yumie was Japanese and using her native tongue in her initial attacks, the ancient dialect of intruder was completely beyond him. Latin, Italian, Swiss, the languages of the Holy See he was completely adept in. Yet the other's words were nothing but demon nonsense.]

Tell me, Father... do you have a fear of disease?

Of course I do! Doesn't everyone? In a corrupt place like this I would find it justly sound.. I feel like I'm surrounded by pestilence.
