a/n. challenge with kikiam; she chose this aiba/donghae sentence from the one sentence meme, and gave me the additional prompt: 'interacting after the asia song festival presscon'. afdsgdk to be honest, i'm not really all too familiar with the suju fandom except from whatever she forces on me, and also the super junior movie (attack on the pin-up boys), which i liked, and all 13 episodes of super junior full house, so, uh, yeah. this was born mostly out of inside jokes and lulz AND IT WAS A CHALLENGE, OKAY? okay, just so we're all clear. :D also, kikiam wrote me movieverse!kibum/donghae in exchange for this. They bump into each other after the initial press conference of 2008's Asia Song Festival, Donghae feeling a little lost. Aiba smiles brightly, and Donghae does the same.
"You are, ahh, member of Korean boyband, ne? Thirteen member?" Aiba says in a fumbling mix of English and unsure Korean.
"Yes! My name is Donghae," Donghae answers, trying to speak in what little Japanese he knows, "Super Junior!"
Aiba continues to smile, and introduces himself, "I'm Aiba Masaki. From Japan's Arashi. Are you lost?"
Donghae is a little familiar with Arashi, he's heard people (read: fangirls) talk about them before. At the very least he knows Arashi they also attended the song festival in 2006, the year before Super Junior first did.
When Aiba asks, "Are you lost?" Donghae shits a little from foot to foot, looking and feeling a little sheepish.
"Oi Aiba! What's taking you so long?" a voice from the corner called out. Donghae turns to look, and he knows that face. He knows because some of the member sometimes watches Hana Yori Dango on TV and he's sure that man is Matsujun. He's surprised that Jun seems to be only as tall as him, he expected him to be somewhat taller. He really doesn't know why he's feeling awkward around these two, they're all idols here anyway, no need to feel embarrassed, but for some reason he is, and he's really thankful when he hears Eeteuk's familiar voice calling to him:
"Donghae! Where have you been? We've all been looking for you!"
He smiles and bows slightly at Aiba, and nods towards Jun's as an acknowledgment, and hurries to Eeteuk's side, glad to be out of the weird situation.
Apparently however weird it was, it doesn't stop Aiba from waving to him every time they meet each other in the corridors from then onwards. It stops being awkward after a little while, and Donghae doesn't even protest when Aiba invites him to hang out.
Aiba Masaki, in general, is a very friendly person, someone who generally and naturally attracts people with his sort of bright countenance. Lee Donghae is more or less the same type of person, so it isn't so surprising when after less than hour of hanging out they're laughing like old friends, and Donghae can't really remember why he was so shy around the other man to begin with. Aiba is silly and Donghae likes that about him - he feels like they can both be simple idiots around each other. Matsujun comes as a package deal with Aiba though, and while Donghae still feels a little strange around him, Donghae finds he doesn't really mind his presence that much. Especially since Aiba seems more relaxed with him around.
"Ne, Donghae, what do you think are dreams made of?" Aiba asks him once.
"Um, sugar, spice, everything nice?" he tentatively answers.
Aiba laughs and says, "That's girls, silly! Dreams are made of rainbows and shiny stars!" Aiba grins.
Nearby, Donghae catches Matsujun rolling his eyes, and Donghae can't help but giggle.
Matsujun stares at him, and he tries to suppress any more giggles, and Aiba bursts out laughing causing Matsujun to smack him lightly on the shoulder.
"It's how he shows his love," Aiba stage whispers towards Donghae's direction, and Jun raises his eyebrow at them. Donghae smiles, and decides he likes both these men very very much.

[1] the rules were that the fic had to be written in a one-hour time-frame, had to incorporate the original sentence somehow, and had to be at least 500 words. :)appropriate punishments were set for whoever doesn't accomplish the task.
