UGH. My friends tried to pull that bullshit on me about my Women In Physics group -- "great idea, needs men." Full of misogynistic bullshit about how all we're going to do is complain unless there are men there. And how we need men to verify that all this stuff we talk about is ~real~. They didn't even camoflage it as "some people think this", they just said it.
They also suggested we should totally have a Men In Physics group! Where they drink beer and play video games! Except WE ALREADY DO THAT EVERY MONTH. IT'S CALLED GAME NIGHT. I guess they're just unhappy that ladies come to that too. I guess having a department that's 85% male isn't enough.

Anyway, women in geekdom/fandom sounds awesome! I am afraid for their Q&A time though. Some asshole is guaranteed to make a "show us your tits" joke, except he's totally feminist and he's just being postmodern and making fun of the kinds of jerks who would do something like that, don't you see?
Oh, MEN IN PHYSICS GROUP. Wow, yeah! If there's a WOMEN in Physics Group, clearly a MEN in Physics Group is totally necessary too! While they're there, they can plan White History Month! THANKS, MEN.
