GOODBYE
Adora slowly moved through the tall grasses of the field, taking her time to reach the horse. He was a beautiful animal; so dark brown in color that he almost looked black, with large black eyes and a mane of jet-black hair.

She was still a few feet from him when his head bobbed up and he slowly moved over to her. She stood still and squeezed her eyes shut as his head lowered and he pressed into her, saying hello.

Her breath caught and Adora scrunched up her face as the tears began to form; she was so surprised that there were any tears left to fall that her eyes popped open and the horse nudged her again.

The horse was smart, Adora knew. He was Wyatt's horse - the only thing Wyatt had to his name when they met - and he always responded to Wyatt and Wyatt alone. He knew that Wyatt wasn't coming along when Adora and Jeb fled the cabin.

His duty was to Wyatt, and Wyatt's duty was to his wife and son.

As they moved from place to place, he responded to Adora; Jeb would never go near him without her or Wyatt, because those were the rules. Now, they were preparing to move again.

Moving on without him.

It was too hard to slip in and out of the villages with a large animal; especially when everyone knew his master. Jeb and Adora had been staying with the family of one of Wyatt's fellow Tin Men and she knew that this was the best place for him. Here, he could run free in the fields, always have a meal and not have to worry about anything more than being a horse.

And it was breaking her heart to say goodbye to him.
