the Big Damn Prompt table IMPRESSION
"May I present Lord Dumas," the older man said, nodding to the younger. DG couldn't recall the older man's name, simply because it was about the eightieth she'd been told.
DG gave Dumas a royal smile and nod and had to fight rolling her eyes as he reached for her hand and pressed a kiss just over her knuckles. "It is my honor, Your Highness."
DG caught Cain's glare from across the room and shook her head slightly, letting him know she could handle the man, and she pulled her hand back.
It was going to be a long night.
MINCE
"It's obvious you do not yet fully understand the humor of the Outer Zone," Lord Dumas informed DG with a disgustingly sympathetic nod. The others standing with him gave an airy 'it's funny because we're royal'-laugh.
DG reared back and breathed a laugh. "And it's obvious that you don't yet fully understand-" she repeated, enunciating her words so there would be not confusion. "-that you say one more thing about my friends-" At that, the entire room had stopped talking amongst themselves and were now looking her way. "-and I'll kick your ass into another time zone."
No one laughed.
HUSTLE
Cain had been keeping an eye on everyone in the room, and the second he saw the flinch from DG, he pushed off the wall and started weaving through the crowd. As her voice rose, the room went silent and he actually stopped.
It wasn't enough that she had to defend herself to the Zone, but now she was defending him? Whatever had been said, he knew that DG was capable of carrying out her threat, no matter who was in the vicinity.
Before he could reach the group, however, Raw was at DG's side, pulling her away from Dumas.
LEASH
Cain managed to clear through the crowd, forcing himself to ignore Dumas and the other idiots around the man. He got to the patio as DG was in mid-rant, pacing back and forth and probably oblivious to his presence. Raw looked up to Cain and shook his head as he stepped over and they both watched as DG let the steam clear.
"What a self-centered... full of..." Clenching her fits and her teeth, DG let out a groan and stared off at the landscape while her breaths calmed. "Dumas," she said with a laugh. "Dumb ass is more like it."
