Looking up at the voice, Jamie nodded distractedly, tossing the phone on the desk as proof.

"Have you heard from them?" He wasn't sure who he meant. The Company. Jimmy. Kirin.

He was still biting back his anger at the reassignment, at the fact that there was nothing he could do to change it. Jamie liked Candice well enough, but that wasn't the point. Kirin needed him and they just split them up without a moment's hesistation. Put him with Jimmy of all people, who didn't even have an ability.

He kept that to himself, however, knowing Candice would be none to happy about a remark towards her husband.

"No." Because I'm trying hard not to. She knew they were on a mission. She even knew where, but she wasn't about to tell Jamie. It would be a breach of Jimmy's trust. She wasnt supposed to know.

"They'll be fine," she added, unconvincingly.

"I don't even know where he is," Jamie said miserably, running his hands through his cropped locks.

"How am I supposed to...what if something happens?" He was being a little pathetic, he knew, but at the same time he didn't care. The last time he hadn't known where Kirin was...

Jamie swallowed hard, pressing the heels of his hands against his eyes.

"They're big boys," she assured him, taking a seat at the empty desk opposite his own. Kirin's, no doubt. They hadn't gotten around to moving boxes yet. It would get to that, eventually.

"They'll be fine." It didn't help that her voice shook a little as she said this. "They'll be back in no time."

She made a deal with herself: if he didn't drop it, she'd tell him where Kirin and Jimmy were, her promise be dammned. Yes, I'm a softie. Or perhaps she just wanted a reason to check up on them.

Wincing at the sight of her in Kirin's desk, Jamie nodded a little.

"You're probably right," he said, his voice small as he tried to believe her. "And...and Jimmy will take care of him if anything happens, right?"

He fiddled absently with a pen, twirling it between his fingers. He hadn't wanted a dupe for comfort in a long time, but if he didn't manaage to calm down about this, he was going to end up making one.
