Snow was fall softly outside, frosting the window and making the entire living room scene that much more picture perfect. Jamie shuffled across the room, grinning a little to himself as he took in April's stake out under the tree.

Kneeling next to her, he tugged on a pair of socked feet, peering at their owner through the branches.

"Having fun?"

Kirin sighed dramatically as he wandered into the living room with a plate of cookies in hand. "Someone promised they'd help me with the cookies. I wonder where she disappeared to..."

April giggled and nodded at Jamie before peeking from under the tree at Kirin. "You didn't need my help, there are cookies right there!"

Reaching up and snatching a handful off the plate, Jamie sat back down Indian-style, pushing away Chewy's snuffling nose.

"No cookies for you," he told the collie sternly, holding up a christmas tree cookie up against the real one and squinting at it.

"Not bad." He smiled up at Kirin. "My compliments to the pastry chef."

"My little sous chef was supposed to help me frost the candy cane ones, they're all missing their stripes." Kirin feigned a pout and set the plate down on the coffee table before he joined the others on the floor, sitting on Jamie's lap.

"Oh, I didn't know we were getting an April for Christmas, just what I've wanted. Maybe she'll help me."
