Candice wouldn't have left the hospital if she hadn't been more or less thrown out by Jimmy's father. The man had a point. Although he didn't know it, she'd happily slept there the previous night and would've done it again, if allowed. It wasn't so much for Jimmy that she did it, as for her own peace of mind. She found she couldn't sleep alone anymore and she was almost glad when her cell rang and Thompson sent her to do this or that.

Keeping busy worked wonders for a troubled mind. Then again, so did alcohol.

She hadn't been planning to end up in a bar in Texas, but then she'd given up planning her life a long time ago. Fate didn't seem to want to agree with her designs.

Swearing to herself that she'd have just one drink, then head back to the hotel, change and head out again - maybe to sneak into Jimmy's room, see how he was doing - she made her way to the bar, hopping onto a stool and pretending not to notice the other patrons.

Darius turned around a bit as the door to the bar swung open. A goddess walked through the door and sat down at the bar. Well then, he thought to himself. Luck be a beautiful lady tonight.

He stood up and walked over to her. He sat down next to her and ordered a drink for himself. He looked at her face and noticed immediately that something was wrong with her.

"Hey, there, miss," he siad gently. "you look a bit down."

Smartest thing in a situation like this? Ignore or tell the guy to fuck off. Which would've been the smart thing to do to Lance, a little over a week before. But she hadn't done it then and she wasn't going to do it now.

"Hi," she smiled, glad when she was finally handed her drink. The sooner she got out of here the sooner she could see Jimmy. "Not down, just tired," she added, not really up for conversation, but determined to avoid projecting her issues on other people. Her life was the epitome of abnormal right now and something easy, like a drink and a chat and guy, would make her forget that if for a little while.

"Ah," Darius mused in a somber tone. "Anything you're willing to say, or is it something too private for a kind ear and a cold beer?" he questioned. He smacked himself mentally. He needed to stop rhyming phrases.

She chuckled at that, taking a sip from her glass. Pursing her lips against the bitter taste, she shrugged a little. "It's a little too private, sorry." If Primatech had taught her one thing, it was to learn to keep quiet. Very, very quiet.

"You seem very chipper to be wasting time in a place like this," she remarked casually.
