She tilted her head at that. "I'm not the only one who can do something impossible, am I?" He'd done something before the tranquiliser did its job, she was sure of it. If it hadn't been Amerie - and she couldn't be sure - and it hadn't been one of their own, it could only have been him.

"Ivy goes after people with certain... talents. Like mine, for example. I think you're lucky she never made it to your date today." Strictly speaking, that was an assumption, a bluff laid on nothing but scarce interrogation reports and what could be inferred from investigation into her victims. That didn't make it any less true.

"As far as I know, you are," Casey responded, brushing the question aside, "I don't know about you, but I don't know anyone who plays with the fabric of the world like it was play-doh.

"And I wouldn't be too sure. She was hesitant to open up at first, but when she did, we seemed to have connected amazingly and talked for hours. If Ivy's done what you said she did, then she must have done the same to the other victims," he said, glaring at Candice.

"It's possible," she agreed, untroubled by his glare. Nobody likes a jailer. "it would also be best if you didn't lie to me," she added sweetly after a moment's pause. As with Nathan, it was possible he didn't know about his ability. She filed the question away for Eden to answer, if he kept resisting.

"What did you talk about?"

Casey stood up suddenly, sweat dripping off his brow and pounded the bed, "I'm not lying! Listen, I told you already, we got to talking about how she was out discovering the world ever since her parents passed away. Also talked a bit about life in general and living in the city versus the country. She didn't give me an address, if that's what you're asking.

"If you're not going to charge me with anything, then release me. I know my rights one way or another, and I demand an attorney."

"An attorney?" She laughed. "You think I'm going to bring an attorney in here?" The idea was amusing to say the least, but he was the first person she'd met who'd thought to suggest that. Not even Jamie, and he'd been terrified...

Not the time for that though, Casey seemed almost to be cooperating.

"Discovering the world, that's an interesting way to put it. Did she happen to mention that she was nailing people to crosses all over the country?"
