Cooper/Zach RoadTrip: Part I

Summary: Zach wants to leave Texas desperately and Kirin just wants to leave (but apparently cannot--kidnapping tends to hang one up this way). Cooper is a convenient adult with a convenient vehicle with lots of space. Problem: Cooper broke his wrist. Solution: Zach

He wasn't waiting terribly long -- it was about ten minutes before Cooper came out of the front door, looking rather a lot like hell, really, apparently missing the van and trotting to the convenience store next to the hotel. His wrist was in a thicker cast than it had been the day before, and he was moving ever so slightly more carefully.

Zach frowned as he watched Cooper jog across the lot, beelining for the general store. Realization dawned and he stuck his head out the window.

"Grab me some, too!" He really hadn't slept well, and the way the other man was moving illustrated he wasn't the only one. Was it just him or did Cooper look... a little worse for wear? He shrugged, leaving it up to his conspiracy-driven mind.

I'm just being paranoid...

Considering how startled Cooper looked before he glanced around and saw Zach, perhaps he wasn't being so paranoid.

He returned a few minutes later with two cups of coffee, giving Zach a tired smile and holding one out to him.

"Hey."

Zach took the beverage, nodding his thanks when he noticed the brusing around the slighter man's wrist... He raised an eyebrow, trying to keep the panic out of his voice.

"Hey... what happened there?"

"It's, uh. A very long story."

He slid into the passenger seat, closing his eyes for a moment.

"You can't tell anyone this, all right? And I won't tell you if you don't want me to, since... I don't know, it might put you in danger. I don't want that."

He was getting a lot of secrets lately.. not that he minded. Secrets he could do.

"Don't worry," he said earnestly, already wanting to beat the living hell out of whoever did this to Cooper. And yes, that thought proved that he was perhaos talking to Lance a little too much recently, but Cooper was quite possibly the nicest person Zach had ever met--why would anyone want to hurt him? "You can trust me, to keep your secret and to watch my own back."

He smiled and reached over to repeat Cooper's earlier action--squeezing the man's shoulder slightly.

"We should get out of the hotel parking lot though.." He backed out of his space, and made his way onto the road, slipping onto a sidestreet before looking to Cooper expectantly.
