Kirin was sleep-deprived and in a sour mood. He managed to get on the latest flight he could take that would get him in Odessa in the alloted time frame. He only had two hours between his arrival to the airport and the start of school, and most of that would be stuck in transit.

He spent the few hours of his flight back to Texas sulking himself into a worse mood when he could have slept. He sighed as he tugged his luggage through the terminal.

"This sucks." he grumbled and stopped at one of the open coffee vendors.

Coffee was just about the only good thing to happen to her that morning. Hell, it was about the only good thing that had happened in the past days. Candice felt like leaping off at the next person who bumped into her in the crowded airport and gauging their eyes out.

Menopause could not be worse than this, no matter what her mother insinuated.

Throwing her papercup in a bin - Jimmy would have been happy to know she could aim straight, if he still cared to teach her 'bball' - she stumbled over someone's luggage, nearly hitting the floor.

"Damn it!"

"Hey, watch it!" Kirin snapped at whoever was clumsy enough to stumble over the luggage he actually bothered to carefully stack so no one would trip over.

He set down the coffee he was attempting to load with more sugar than was necessary to look over at Candice. "You're supposed to be in New York."

Candice was in a dark mood and being snapped at was not about to make her feel any better.

"I had some business to take care of." She glanced at his bags. "You going somewhere?"

"Yeah. Home. Well, school, then home, then work." Kirin shrugged and choked down a good amount of the disgustingly sweetened coffee. "I would skip school again, but Jimmy needs homework, and I made promises I'd stop skipping. Not that any of that's important."
