He paused briefly to shoot back, "Thought you worked with meds, not electricity."

He was ignoring the idea that the guy might follow him back, tugging at Ginger to stop dawdling. So could get home.

"Nothing weird about stuff going wrong in New York."

"Oh, I'm sorry then," he said, voice the epitome of remorse. "My mistake."

But the boy was definitely guilty about something... He wanted to know what it was, dammit.

"Read Tabloids often then?" he threw out there, noticing a second too late that he had been recognized, trying to get the boy to come back, turn around--anything so he could figure out what the fuck was going on.

Joey stopped yet again and cursed himself for doing so. What was this guy's problem?

"Coworker," he shot back. "Look, I.." Have a spine, Holmberg. "What you want? I'm sorry my dog when nuts on you."

He had to take a breath to force down another rise in electrical current. Definitely making some coffee when he got back.

"Is that why you look so guilty?" he challenged, afraid maybe his sessions with Emily were making him weirder instead of helping him blend. "Or is it because you know something else about that fucking sign?"

It was a wild hunch--no doubt this was going on the front page spread of US Weekly tomorrow. Fuck.

"Forget about the damn sign," he snapped, pulse speeding up. "Just the dog. I'm going now."

He scooped up Ginger, not wanting to risk another run away, and picked up his pace, muttering an apology to her as brown fur went on end again.
