Nathan had hoped Heidi hadn't heard him the early hours of the morning making his way from the house to his office. Peter let alone his wife would have a fit to see him up and about work so close to the holidays, he was sure, but it was wearing on him. It wouldn't be to stay for the day - Just to grab some work he could do and get some fresh air. Air of his sort rather than just some walk or, and he immediately shot down the thought, flight.

Slipping into the building - one of the routes where he didn't have to deal with personnel on a regular basis and where he didn't have to make some reason he was there. Nathan didn't want to bother. Reaching for his keys in his pocket, he headed for his office - fumbling about to find the right one so he could slip in - he stopped when he caught sight of her.

Damn... He thought, hoping to not run into anyone. "Can I help you with something?" Nathan asked, voice quite as the curiousity got the better of him.

She blinked in silence a moment. It wasn't every day you caught your ex-boss and hopefully next-boss sneaking into work while you were...well...sneaking into work. Thinking about it gave her a headache.

It probably didn't help her chances that she wasn't exactly iron-pressed at the moment. As...she hadn't really bothered to be yet. She hadn't been sure if Petrelli was even in.

Of course. That question was resolved now.

She just barely caught herself before she could say something spectacularly unprofessional like 'umm'.

"I was...actually looking to speak to you, Sir."

"Right." Nathan replied, nodding some as he headed for the office, nodding his head in the direction he was going for her to keep up. They could get a talk done in private - on the clock or not. Unlocking the office door without so much as bothering the secretary or anyone else in the office, he stepped inside and held the door open for her.

"What's on your mind?" He asked, his attention turning to his desk as he swung the door shut once she was inside. His eyes dropped down to the new - he certainly hadn't seen them during his previous visit - files and papers on the desk as he rounded the back.

She nodded dutifully, and followed after him into the office. She hadn't actually been in the office very often, except to pop her head in to give him a message, or bring him a morning coffee. It was rather imposing, really.

She frowned slightly, considering how to phrase what she had come here for. If not for the fact that she would have had to deal with Barbie-the-secretary, she would have just called to say it--assuming she dialed the number right this time.

"Well, Sir...I wanted firstly, to apologize for abandoning my work without any notice." She finally said, pushing away memories of the conversation between her and his brother. Of Pietro and the blood that never washed out of her clothes. "It wasn't a fair thing to do, especially considering the difficulty of finding decent secretaries this time of the year."

"Apology accepted, although not exactly a shine in your favor." Nathan replied, giving her a small smile, hands gathering up which papers he would bother with at home and which could wait until he got back into the office for good. His eyes glanced back to the door towards where the secretary would've probably been in the line of sight. "Well, just as anyone else, one makes due." She wasn't a bad look, but even the new secretary had her blunders that he couldn't very well overlook.
