"You're right these are very good. Where'd you get them? I'll have to start stopping there before work."

Nanao polished off her third and final doughnut before patting her napkin across her mouth. She was done (but doubted very much that he was) and content to wait.

Instead of picking up the bear claw which was calling his name in his head, the gunman finished off his milk and wiped his face clean of the milk-stashe that had made its way there. "You wanted to see my arm right?" He was still uneasy about it but Vash knew it had to be done later if not now, "It's not a pretty sight..."

"It's alright. It won't bother me." She stood and pulled her chair around the table to sit on his left patiently waiting until he was comfortable enough to show her his appendage.

"I should probably ask before I try anything...do you have feeling in your arm? Psuedo-nerve endings that might hurt you if I do something wrong?"
She looked at him intently focused on helping him and solving this new puzzle before her.

A gun..? She was confused a moment before it registered as a human weapon in her mind. Live rounds must mean it's still dangerous.
"I'll be careful. Hold on a moment."
She rose and went to the back grabbing the plastic container that held the tools and few cleaning supplies used in the store. When she returned she carefully took off the coverings and pulled out the gun as gingerly as she could.
"If you don't mind me asking...what exactly do you do at home?"

Vash watched Nanao work a little, inspecting and tinkering with his arm. With his free hand he quickly removed the bullets and locked the gun's safety on, the live brass casings making their way to his pocket. "Not to seem cowardly...
"I run away a lot. I had a wrongful bounty on my head," okay it was really right but he could have destroyed many of things instead of shooting the moon, "And the bounty collectors don't want to listen to you when they could collect sixty billion double dollars."
He gave a short laugh and ran a hand through his hair, "I try to protect people that get caught in the middle of it though. It happens a lot more than you'd think." Memories started flashing, bad ones, ones of the people he couldn't save. Like Wolfwood. Damn it.

"Oh...I'm so sorry for laughing but you having a bounty on your head seems ridiculous to me! You're such a wonderful man, I can't even imagine what they would think to accuse you of. It's awfully wonderful as well that you help out those caught in the crossfire."
She returned to his arm this time with a cloth sprayed with a bit of cleaning solution.
"I'm going to wipe out some of this build up so I can see if it's the cause of your difficulty moving or if it's actual mechanical failure."
Somehow she started humming the song about sakura blossoms her captain always sang when he was actually in the office.

"It's not really their fault that they get caught up in it. Most of the time they're trying to help me, regardless of my identity...."
He trailed off, listening to Nanao hum as she worked on discovering the problems with his arm. Vash had to admit that sans the stares this was pretty nice.

She giggled a bit and looks up into his eyes.
"Vash does your class often use crayons?"
Reply
OH. Those things with the weird colors and even weirder color names.
"Yes... But what does that have to do wi-- ... Oh. I wondered where the Inchworm crayon went."
