ooc I'm sunburnt......it hurts xP viceise June 8 2009, 00:49:13 UTC
Nanao was at a loss when she had arrived at the bookstore at six in the morning. She couldn't shelve books because her shopping trip with Kururu had been quite successful and she didn't want to get dust on her nice clothes. So instead she paced. Fiddled with paperwork and paced somemore. Finally she was double checking the alphabetized order of the entire children's section nat the front when the door finally opened.

She jumped of course. Hollows can't make her jump but the bell on the door? No problem.

Of course she forgot all about it at Vash's cheerful greeting and moved to take the drinks from him. Her eyes travelled unconciously up his much taller form. He was dressed nicely but obviously for comfort and she was glad that she hadn't worn the heels. Then her eyes reached his head and she blinked.

His hair was black. Hadn't it been blonde? He was still as handsome as he had been with the lighter hair. It was just different. So she smiled her biggest smile and blushed for the first time since she had last seen him.

"Good morning! Thank you for bringing breakfast! Your hair looks nice but I've got to ask....

What are doughnuts?"

When he first saw her this morning Vash had to admit Nanao looked really nice. Everything she was wearing looked new and definitely fit her personality better than what she had been wearing Thursday. However...that last question...kind of left him stumped.

"What...what are doughnuts?" ... How could someone not know what doughnuts were? It simply wasn't possible! Granted he came from a world where it was basically the Wild West with a few vehicles and heavy artillery running around. But still there were doughnuts!

"They're fried dough! With a hole in the middle! Sometimes they don't have the hole but that means there's a filling inside. Or they'll have frosting and sprinkles on top! They're the best plain or glazed though," he was on a roll and someone needed to stop him, "It's your lucky day Nanao! I bought at least two boxes."

Vash scratched at the back of his head with his right hand, "I can't believe you don't have doughnuts back home! Well maybe you call them by something else but they're a good pastry treat."

Apping for Tezuka now....what is meant by "supplemental comments?" viceise June 8 2009, 01:25:40 UTC
Nanao was taken aback by his enthusiastic defense of the food.

"A pastry? Perhaps it is my lucky day. I can't wait to try them. I haven't had a large variety of food since I arrived."

She shifted a bit nervously and gestured towards the mechanics section. She felt inadequate for once at a research assignment. She had no clue what the mechanics of his arm were like so she couldn't begin to match the information in the books with what he might need.

"I organized the books by the amount of stuff they had on prostetics and the two things you mentioned last time and I skimmed through some of them so...." She fidgeted a bit and glanced once more at his hair.

Additional, at least that's what dictionary.com said xD thehidingfool June 8 2009, 02:02:41 UTC
Vash smiled and nodded, setting the bags on the counter top for lack of a better place to put them for now. "I don't know if they'll have anything about my arm's mechanics in the books. The technology is a little different," that much he knew.

"It might be easier to just..." Vash tilted his head to the side and followed Nanao's gaze to his hair. "Ah."

He laughed, "It surprised you didn't it. It's my natural color now. It as blond but it faded to black while I was on Gunsmoke."

She felt the second blush of the day creep along her cheeks.

"Is it? How interesting. Anyway you were saying it would be easier to just...?" She promted him attempting to get away from her embarassment at staring. As another distraction she began pulling the boxes and drinks out and setting them up at one of the tables with arm chairs.

"Oh! It might just be easier to ignore those and concentrate on the mechanics." He knew he was going to be confused by all the jargon and Nanao might as well considering their worlds were a bit backwards. "Though I might be better off finding a mechanic in the end." Vash didn't really want it to come to that since it would raise considerable questions about his arm and there was also the issue of payment.

Being a teacher, however fun it was, didn't pay a lot. The gunman was sure he could go into the protection services and become a bodyguard. His reflexes were fast enough for that and he knew plenty about the dangers and escaping. Vash smiled, "Still it's worth a look."

I made it just for you! <3 (you put that bug in my head and...)do you have aim? or messngr? viceise June 8 2009, 03:52:07 UTC
This was the part where Nanao got really nervous. Assuming his arm was mechanical all the way to his shoulder joint he would have to take his shirt off. She still wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing. It definitely wasn't going to stop her from blushing but she had said she would help and she would. She had fibbed a little about the books; she had read all of the relevant ones and skimmed the irrelevant ones. Damn her free time. She took a slight offense at the mechanic comment but didn't mention it. It wasn't his fault he didn't know her track record for taking care of things.

"Well what would you like to do first? I could look at your arm and see if we can do anything before we have a nice slow breakfast or we could do business after the food."

I have both, they should be on the contact page. thehidingfool June 8 2009, 04:21:11 UTC
"Ah. Let's eat first!" Vash grinned at Nanao rather hopefully, after all he hadn't really eaten anything since the really early dinner last night and that was almost twelve hours ago. He was starving and would probably eat a book if someone convinced him it was food and edible.

And if she wanted a look at his arm... Ah. Well he was glad he had worn a t-shirt under this jacket. All the scars on his body weren't fit for a lady as pretty as Nanao to see. Though she had probably seen much worse in her war-zone home. Vash sighed a bit and grinned again a bit more weakly, "Besides the milk might spoil if we wait for later."

Oops totally forgot about that place..... viceise June 8 2009, 04:44:04 UTC
"Right. That sounds good, I didn't eat after Kururu-san and I returned to the apartments and I got up early so that's fine with me."

She suddenly realized that he might be uncomfortable with her looking at his arm and felt her stomach sink. She hadn't meant to make him uncomfortable; she merely wanted to help.

"Unless of course you don't want me to look at your arm...i understand someimes things like that can be uncomfortable. We have a captain that used to wear a bucket on his head because he looks like a fox. Not that you look like a fox or anything- I think I will go get some cups."

Nanao cut off and retreated to the back room her face redder than ever. What the hell was wrong with her? She was babbling like an idiot! She grabbed the clean red and purple mugs and headed back to the front.

Vash stared after her a bit helplessly, had he said something wrong? Nanao seemed a little...flustered? The dark haired man sighed and moved a few chairs into place to make eating a little easier. He also made use of the alone time to pull out the food he had brought and of course the milk.

He smiled a little forlornly, remembering the past on the ship with Rem and Knives. When they were growing up all they had been allowed to have was the white drink, Knives had hated it. Said the animal it came from was stupid and he didn't want to be stupid like it.

A small laugh escaped him as he set the small carton down on the table, looking up just as Nanao returned.

Nanao paused for a moment watching him stare at the milk before he chuckled and set it down. He had looked so sad for just a second. Her new goal was to cheer him up.

"Ah great you got everything together." She handed him the red mug and moved to open the milk. "Alright, Vash. I'm trusting you not to steer me wrong with these doughnut things. Which one do I eat?"

orz I had a brain-fart last night. Sorry. thehidingfool June 8 2009, 14:31:21 UTC
"You can eat any one you want! I didn't know what you'd like so..." he gave a short laugh, "I got every kind they had at the convenience store!" Normally any from a place like that would be stale and wouldn't taste like a doughnut was supposed to but these were different.

Vash had been surprised to find a small doughnut shop right inside the store and practically thrilled as well, it was one of his frequent stops. Everyone on any shift knew him by sight and knew exactly what he'd want when he came in. Five glazed and a small coffee. He gripped the mug for a moment then started to set it down, second guessing and holding onto it instead. "Try one of the plainer looking ones if you're not keen on sweet things."

s'ok I went to bed anyway XD Cinnamon twists are the best.....yummy viceise June 8 2009, 15:16:27 UTC
Nanao grinned wryly.

"I know you can keep a secret so I have mo qualms telling you this. It's one of the best kept secrets at home that I have a sweet tooth. I and Captain Ukitake are the only ones that know. I made him swear not to tell my captain or I'd never here the end of it. Are there any with cinnamon? It's rare we get that at home and it's my favorite."

She held out her hand for his mug. "Would you like some milk? I'll pour it."

I actually don't eat doughnuts much... >>;;; thehidingfool June 8 2009, 21:57:14 UTC
Vash grinned and held out his mug, "If you would."

He pondered a little as he handed it off, "Are there napkins in the back room? We're going to need them for a few of the doughnuts."

After all a few of them were filled with pudding and jelly, delicious things that tended to make messes.

Neither do I! XD viceise June 8 2009, 23:32:56 UTC
Nanao poured the milk for them both.

"Yes I figured they'd come in useful as I take my meals here. I'll get them." She hurried to the back and returned with a small snack.

She then selected two doughnuts, one that might be cinnamon and one with chocalate filling, and slid gracefully into one of the chairs to eat.

And and and Rika just has to give it a look over thehidingfool June 10 2009, 04:05:07 UTC
Vash had been more than willing to go get them himself, it felt weird not doing anything and just standing there being inactive. He really needed to move around seeing as he hadn't even done his morning routine and there had to be some way to get his jitters out.

Still he was seated when Nanao came back, already munching on a chocolate-pudding filled doughnut and of course getting it all over his face.
