Dean expected Sam to just... buy him something. Skin mags, candy, the usual Winchester-type birthday gifts. Clearing up the confusion.
It wasn't difficult to get time to go out on his own if he framed it right. Mentioned buying shaving cream, toothpaste, oil for the Impala... any boring, mundane crap that sounded more boring to Sam than reading. Of course, he wasn't only in it for the chores. He had a plan. It was his battle cry whenever things got tough. Talking? Just led to problems. Exhibit A: Sam talking to that bitchy blonde friend of his. A much needed break.
In spite of best intentions, their 'regular occurrences' had not come so regularly. Oh, there was plenty of road head and pulling over to get a quick roll in the back seat, and always sex at night when they stopped and weren't too beat or beat down. It wasn't the same, though. The only thing funny about the situation was everything. It had been like pulling teeth to get Sam to agree to a night out after a particularly long, aggravating, and once again near-deadly hunt.
