Nicely chilling that first half. Loved mortified!John in the hospital when he sees Lestrade's bruise.

What UK gun laws? Actually, I was thinking that with all of Moriarty's men around, I could see Lestrade fudging a report that claimed that one of Jim's men brought in the handgun, and drugged PSTD!John just happened to pick it.

And loved Sherlock's picking our own noses comment! lol!

I actually had more trouble working out why Lestrade would be carrying a gun than explaining away John's gun--when I first scribbled this down I was thinking in very American terms, and then halfway through editing I remembered that most UK police aren't even trained to use guns. But my official out-of-story explanation is that Lestrade commandeered a gun from one of the Armed Response Vehicles that responded to the first report of gunshots, and I'm sticking to it. :-)

Oops!

I think the only reason I remember that bit is that I saw the original "American Werewolf in London" and I remember that tense scene with the Armed cop van dashing through the streets trying to reach the werewolf in time. That was a great movie, and until I saw it I had not realized that the UK cops didn't always have guns. (Plus there was a bit from Americas Most Wanted where some baddie from the states escaped to England and shot at a couple of constables. Don't remember all the details right now.)

Oh, this is so good. John as Captain Watson, defending his patient, is quite a sight.

This is amazing. So well-written, very nail-bitey and tense. I love the sense of disorientation that we experience right along with John. Nice!

Trying to think of adjectives for this story and the first that comes to mind is: spooky. Very spooky. In a v. good way.

This was very, very good. An incredible idea to start with, and the execution is downright gripping.
