Weird
So somehow my default userpic (a photo of me walking on a beach in Los Angeles) was changed to a gopher... I'm not sure how that happened, and it makes me wonder if someone's cracked my password. Time to change it ( Read more... ) -
Keep an eye on Gustav
Yeah, yeah, it's a pun. Hurricane Gustav is increasing in intensity and currently blasting Cuba. The current 5-day forecast and computer models point it in the general direction of Louisiana, becoming a Category 3 storm on Saturday and making landfall sometime Monday/Tuesday.

Another long week
Looks like I'll be working some significant overtime this week. The new project I'm assigned to is pushing a lot of work on us, and we still have some leftovers from the last project that aren't finished yet thanks to bad project management. Some people...
Several coworkers eat out for lunch and dinner ALL THE TIME.
Then they complain how they're practically broke every month, can't afford to put any money in savings, etc.
And how they keep gaining weight - "man I feel so fat and out of shape".
Is everyone really that stupid? -
Meteors
As I sit here idly browsing on Facebook, I saw an event someone had created for the Perseids meteor shower. The Perseids peak tonight - well, tomorrow morning around 6AM CDT. This is the first year I've lived far enough out of "the city" that I don't have much "light pollution," and I'd have a chance to see some spectacular displays of stellar ( Read more... ) -
Random stuff while I'm bored at work
Once again I face obstacles to my work, but this time they are human instead of technical. Apparently I have to submit migration requests to get my program moved onto UNIFI's development environment.
