I haven't felt like this in a while. [ He sounds cheerful enough, though. ] You never know what this City is going to throw as us next and every day we're left wondering if the next day is going to be worse. [ His voice is clear and strong. ]I've only been here for a month, and honestly? I wonder how so many people can still be so strong after ( Read more... )

The most frustrating thing about this situation, in my experience, is that life in the City has no direct impact on life at home. Once you leave, it is as if you were never in the City to begin with- until, of course, you are dragged back once again, should you be so fortunate. [dryly]

It makes you wonder what purpose you serve by being here at all.

So then, that's happened to you? Have you gone home and then been brought back here?

I have, yes. Somewhat recently, too.

So when you get back home you don't remember this place at all?

Anyone who wouldn't has something they regret.

I don't think that's the only reason. Some people probably feel like they have it better here. In some cases I'm sure this place feels like home.

Speak for your fucking self. Some less fortunate shit heads don't actually have anything to go back to. Why not be sensitive to them, huh?

[ He doesn't know the swear words, but he can recognize tone just fine. ]

I didn't mean to be insensitive to those who would rather stay here. I know it sounds that way, and for that I apologize. [ He bows his head slightly to show he means it. ]

There are probably thousands upon thousands of worlds out there that I will never even learn about. It's not my place to judge someone for wanting to stay here, and I would never do that.

[ taps his claws on the desk in irritation. ]

Then why did you question it like a fucking wiggler in the first place?

I was only wondering how people stay positive despite everything that happens. I haven't even been here for most of it, but I've heard about some terrible curses.

This place is far from being all bad. I can understand why you'd want to stay even if I don't feel the same.

It could be worse. Time could actually be passing back home while we're here. Imagine vanishing from home for a year- not pretty.

That's a good point. It's good to keep things in perspective. [ Aang just isn't sure he can handle being stuck here regardless. ]

Nothing too bad's happened to you, has it? Other than the... killer statues.

Nothing other than that has happened to me personally, but I do have friends here. Friends that have been here for a long time.
