Notes: Because I've never posted any Dragon Age here. I had two ideas in my head this week, and this isn't either of them.
"Mummy?"
"Yes, child?"
Laughter trills on the night breeze as he rises from his bed. "I wanted to know you're there."
On occasion she fears the boy is as foolish as his father. A fitting punishment, some might think, for the role she chose to play. Not her. "You knew I was."
"I did," he admits, smile audible in his small voice. "You wouldn't leave me, would you, Mummy?"
"No." Beside the fire, she watches him creep closer. "Though 'tis contrary, at times, to my better judgment."
He throws his arms around her, tightly enough to make her grimace. "Good."
