*count count count* Hm. If Sanzo's a rabbit, he'd have to be 30 this year...did Mine actually mention the year they popped out?

(I'm a Fire Rabbit! *blows carrot-coloured flames*)

Nope. Sanzo was 23 when they set out on the road. It's right there in the manga. Minekura herself has also said that only a year has passed in their 'time' in that universe. Check right here on Minekura's Nitro website.

Goku is now 19, Sanzo is 24, Hakkai and Gojyo are 23. Only a year has passed in that timeline for the boys.

*wanders off grinning* Good try though.

That being said, if Sanzo is 24 now, he would be a Rooster. @_@

Oh the ideas that I could come up with for THAT mental image.

Anyway. Very good drabble.

I love the imagery in this, and the allusions to various myths make me very happy indeed. *G*

That said, I too wonder about the basis of your determination of the characters' Chinese zodiac signs. Minekura may have stated the characters' ages, but has she ever said what years they were actually born? I know the timeline is not meant to be present day, but I've never heard anything beyond that.

See the reply to Madsqueeble's question above. Thank you, too. ^_^

Well, I figured you were going off the publishing dates in your determination. I'm just saying, since the timeline of the series itself isn't meant to be present day (I think I heard fifteenth century somewhere), there'd be no way to tell unless Minekura had actually given birth years.

Which does not detract from the edged beauty of the drabble, I was just wondering if you'd heard actual years somewhere.

*shrugs and grins* Best guess from publishing date. And it fits a solid theory. And she hasn't let the actual years slip--yet.
