Help?

Wondering if someone on this comm would be kind enough to help me figure out some things about the Barsburg military and the Black Hawks for a bit of fanfic that I'm thinking of writing. The manga is a bit confusing and currently I have no access to it.

My Questions - possible spoilers for chapter 26 of the manga. )

mc - kuroyuri, mc - konatsu, general discussion, *q&a, mc - hyuuga, mc - ayanami, mc - haruse

I can only hep you with the first one:
I found it in the manga (chapter 3)
Major Hyuuga - unit under direct control of the staff officers
Konatsu - Hyuuga's begleiter
Colonel Katsuragi - unit under direct control of the staff officers
Lieutenant Colonel Kuroyori - unit under direct control of the staff officers
Haruse - Kuroyori's begleiter
I hope it helps :)

Ooh thanks very much! It does help! I thought Hyuuga was a Major but I definitely remember in one of the later scanlations making him a lieutenant, which is definitely a demotion. Odd that.

And Katsuagi doesn't have a begleiter. Interesting.

Hyuuga's rank, 少佐 (shousa), can be translated as major, lieutenant commander, or wing commander. I believe I have seen variations within the 07 Ghost manga depending on the scanlating group. That could explain why you have seen him referred to as lieutenant.

((Translation obtained from Denshi Jisho at http://jisho.org/))

Ah ha! My memory wasn't that swiss cheese after all! I guess major would probably do as well.

To be honest, all their ranks are really hard to figure out. I mean when I think Chief of Staff, I'm thinking of one of the most powerful men in the White House. So Ayanami's position totally mystifies me.

I think I need to go re-read chapter 25 again, lol what a good excuse.

I wonder though about the warsfeil, since everyone else just decides to kill them first and ask questions later. I remember the way the church did it is to seal Frau(when they suspected him of being a warsfeil) down in that cell underwater. (Prompting Teito to have to swim to rescue him).

That's really rough. No wonder the Black Hawks are so ruthless. Also explains why they'd be pretty tightly bonded unit, since everyone else is after them.

But Konatsu wanted to be a warsfeil. He was actually disappointed that he wasn't one, when his father told him to go join the Black Hawks to restore some standing in the family. So maybe in some families for the empire, it isn't that bad a thing?

1. It's a lot simpler in japanese where the rankings of those under the chief of staffs are 少佐 中佐 大佐, which are for Hyuuga, Kuroyuri, and Katsuragi respectively, the first word are small, middle, big, again respectively. English, it just becomes a MESS. I'm not familiar with military ranks either, and it seems to differ from country/ branch etc ~.~

2. Aya-tan is a 参謀長, and in the dictionary it translates as Chief of Staffs. He minds all the administrative works (is why the people who hate him dump more junk paper work than necessary) and also the military strategist.

3. Teito was in the branch for tests to become a begleiter (Miroku intended him for Ayatan XDD) so I guess in that way they only wanted the best.

4. who knows? XD

Haha, poor Ayanami, swamped with paperwork. No wonder poor Konatsu is always being dumped on to do the work.

And yeah, it seems that combat slaves are pretty rare as far as sitting for the begleiter exam which probably explains all the bullying and everyone calling him Miroku's pet.

So Katsuragi is ranked lower than Kuroyuri? (having the "small" to his title?) And the fact that Hyuuga is "big" makes me laugh... because I've got a dirty mind. XD

No~ you got it exactly reversed. Katsuragi is the big among the three. Hyuuga is the small one. XD

LOL, I think anything and everything pawns Shuri, even snowblowers. He's really so sadly pathetic. I think my favorite part was Hyuuga tossing him out of the ship. It was nice to see Konatsu in action though... even if it was deafeating snowblowers... XD
