I'd bet heavily on Monstrous being one of those teaser words used to describe the movie.
That's how a lot of teaser posters are; I've got a few for Fight Club that don't use "Fight Club" in the title, and same with a bunch of Harry Potter: OotP ones that I have.
Yeah I'm inclined to agree. It's like the transformer's ones with "Protect" or "Destroy". I'm interested to see if this is an actual leaked poster (perhaps made up for comic-con on thursday?) or something someone made to cash in on the hype. Still, fake or not, its a sweet looking poster (if you lost the Monsterous text).
Secrecy around this movie being what it is, I can't see a cache of posters falling into the hands of a random vendor. I know Comicon is coming up, but I don't think Paramount would send out a batch of posters for sale and trust sellers to keep to a street date.
'Twas a dude more paranoid than I that suggested it was most interesting that the pics came from a fresh guest and that, p'raps, it may have been a plant. *insert Twilight Zone tune here*
Sure, that wouldn't surprise me, but more likely someone snagged really early ones skeezily and they were meant for comic-con. This is of course assuming the poster itself is not a magnificent, beautiful fake.
Assuming they're real, who is to say that they just weren't put up for display/sale too early? When I worked at Best Buy there were times when we accidentally released a DVD, video game, or software well beyond the release date. Simply a human error.
Quite possibly the case here, if it does in fact relate to the movie. But who's to say it's not for something else, yanno? Hopefully someone can just get in a clearer photo so that we can see more intricate detail.
Too bad this kid doesn't know how to put his camera phone closer to the image, and hold still.
Nifty! On a related tangent, what's interesting is that Paramount did a hit and run on my blog within the last two hours, but ONLY on the page where I talk about MONSTROUS.
I am now deathly curious if they're sweeping for images to get them taken down.
Take what images down, the cell phone shots? It's a user taking pictures of a prop in a store, they can't have that taken down at all. The same with the scene footage that's on YouTube right now.
They hit for less than a second around 6pm EST. There's some dudes claiming to have hi-res images on IMDB now, but they're photoshopped fakes. Maybe, more realistically, they're just trying to figure out how it got out? Dunno. I am a queen of random hypotheses, as my theory blog suggests.
