Heh thanks. After I responded compassionately but a bit irritably, she actually did back down a bit and acknowledged that she needed calling out when things like this happen. I think maybe my comment got lumped in, emotionally, with the hurt she was feeling from other sources.

The fact that she recovered a bit and responded more maturely was definitely surprising and impressive.
