I pulled an all-nighter last night and now I'm pulling an all-dayer today. I made myself some coffee this morning and for some reason it reminded me of making coffee for my mom when I was a kid... and I was suddenly confronted again with how crazy and inappropriate things were

Ugh, I know that routine. Always the caretaker, never the cared-for. I was the coffeemaker from about the age of 8. I was elevated to bartender at 14 when Mom had me start making her vodka gimlets for her.

Did you take care of her when she was sick, too? When my mom had a cold or the flu I always made her bouillon and brought her water and etc.

It's a sad situation for a little kid.

I did everything for that woman. If I'd had a driver's license she would have made me do the grocery shopping, too.
