It looks like, barring major news, every other day is the best I'm going to manage. There's only so many ways to say "Today I spent three hours going over my resume in minute detail with a counselor, and another two applying for volunteer positions around Austin." (Also, a lesson in the use of MS Excel.) Things are starting to drag, simply because I am doing for four to five hours a day what most consumers do for two as part of a wider program. Orientation and Mobility days are better, if only because they usually involve going somewhere (Ed, the instructor, is kind of getting a feel for what I can and can't do. Yesterday I had to take a bus downtown, find an address and call him from there with info that'd prove I hadn't just looked it up on the internet--it was an Irish pub and grill, so I called with the schedules for international-league football and rugby games they're showing).
Roomie is good people--there's not really a lot to say. We don't have much in common, but we're going to get along fine, if that makes sense. Had Chipotle for dinner after picking up comics; I wanted to get Japanese, but had a meeting I had to attend. If this hadn't been the final issue of JLA: Cry Bullshit, I would've dropped it anyway because it was garbage (as has been pretty much the whole series, admittedly, but this was the first one that flat out made me angry). Got back into the gym for the first time since arriving yesterday. I am at 254 pounds, which isn't an awful place from which to start.
My replacement Kindle arrived today. I'm kind of annoyed that it only keeps bookmarks for Amazon purchases, and I have to re-find where I left off in Live Free or Die and In Enemy Hands. I haven't written about the prose I'm reading in a good while; I should rectify this. (Other books I'm gnawing away at: A Scanner Darkly and Thomas Sowell's Intellectuals and Society). The rolling over for Macmillan kind of dampened my enthusiasm for the Amazon store itself, but I still love the device. My Blu-Ray copy of Crisis on Two Earths should arrive tomorrow--I'm looking forward to watching it this weekend.
