Chapter 9 Limit

Fun Ghoul's POV

"Ready to tell me where the rebel known as Dr. Death Defying is located?" The exterminator known as Korse stood across from me with his arms crossed and his foot tapping impatiently. Impatience was good, I thought. This will end faster.

"Go fuck yourself," I laughed and he frowned, the only warning before he slammed my head into the pole again. I blinked away the dizziness, cursing under my breath. "You know," I growled out when I could focus again, "You're awful big and mighty since I'm chained up but I bet you couldn't whip the broad side of a barn if I was untied." Please, just kill me and make it quick, my mind screamed in protest, already tired of this game. I just wanted the darkness to get me since no one else was coming. I felt another blow to my stomach and Korse's hand yank on my hair.

"You know, killjoy scum, that's not a bad idea," he replied, almost thoughtful, laughing as he let go of me hair. Looking back up at him, I saw him signal to the two Dracs by the door. I heard, and felt the click of my wrist restraints and I was dumped out onto the floor. I groaned softly and made it to my knees, feeling slowly making its way back to my hands and the rest of my body. I never saw his foot coming, I only felt the blinding pain across the left side of my head. I rolled to my stomach and shook my head again as I tried to stand.

"Come on Fun Boy," Korse laughed as I finally made it back to my feet. "Don't make this easy on me," the back of his hand rattled my brain as I stumbled back into the pole. Fuck, I thought, stumbling towards him a little. This time I was watching him carefully and expected his next move. His fist clipped my shoulder as I ducked, throwing my own punch into his abdomen. I smirked as he stumbled back, shooting him the best toothy grin I could muster when he looked at me. I jumped backwards when he came after me again, stopping when my back hit the wall. He grunted when his hand connected with the wall instead and I tackled him around his waist. I managed to land a few punches before he flipped and slammed my head into the concrete floor. I cried out the second time, no longer having the strength to fight anymore. This is it, I thought happily as he lifted me up and pulled out his gun, holding it to my temple, but another Drac walked through the door before he could pull the trigger.

"Sir, the Killjoys have been spotted," he sputtered through his voice distorter. Hope surged through my chest as I started fighting his grip.

"Finish this," Korse growled to the new Drac, a sadistic smirk adorning his features. He tossed me to the other two Dracs by the door and straightened his clothes. "I don't need him anymore now that Party Poison is close. Maybe he'll talk when he sees your dead body."

"No!" I screamed as I struggled to get away from the dracs. The door closed after him and the newcomer stepped into my field of vision, raising his gun.

Carbon's PoV

"Don't shoot," I whispered from behind Jet, pulling off the Drac’s mask.

"Carbon!" Jet whispered back excitedly as Poison and Kid stepped into the room with their guns raised.

"Why the fuck not?" Party asked coolly, never lowering his gun.

"Because Korse is in there with Ghoul and if you interfere now, he'll just hold him hostage until you're all under his control," I warned. "Korse is waiting to get you guys to make more clones."

"How can we trust you? This could be a trap," Kobra countered, his gun still level with my head.

"You can't afford not to," I told them with more confidence in my voice than I actually felt. "Let me get Korse out of there and I'll explain after we get Ghoul to safety. I'm not sure how much longer Korse is going to put up with your friend." A long awkward silence filled the small room as I waited for them to answer.

"Okay," Jet finally nodded, and the other two agreed, lowering their guns.

"Take care of the other two Dracs after Korse is gone. When Korse is out of sight, we'll head your way," Party ordered, already forming his plan. "If we try to take down Korse, we'll have the entire place on us before we can blink. We're getting Ghoul and getting the hell out."

I grinned and pulled back on the Drac mask, slipping quietly from the room. I started to run once the door was closed, saluting Korse as I entered the room. Fun Ghoul's back was turned to me and Korse had him lifted off of the ground. If it wasn't for his stuttered breathing, I would have though he was already dead.

"Sir, the killjoys have been spotted," I told the exterminator calmly. He looked from Fun Ghoul to me and I tried my best not to shudder under his malicious grin.

"Finish this," he ordered, placing the gun into my hands. "I don't need him anymore now that Party Poison is close. Maybe he'll talk when he sees your dead body." Ghoul started fighting back and I had to hide my sigh of relief. I watched as Korse threw him into the other two Dracs and I walked over in front of Ghoul. Once I raised to gun to Ghoul, all of his hope evaporated like steam. You could be the only one. No longer a copy, a voice echoed in my head. I hesitated for only a second before the gun fired, the first Drac dropping dead. The second barely had his gun out of his holster before he dropped as well. The beaten and bruised killjoy dropped to his knees in between the two dead Dracs, staring up at me in confusion as I yanked my mask off.

"Hi Fun Ghoul, my name is Carbon Xerox. It's a pleasure to finally meet you," I smiled at him, watching as Jet and Kobra ran by me to kneel beside the original.

"I must be dead," Ghoul muttered as the two Killjoys helped him up.

"Thanks Carbon," Party whispered behind me.
