The howl-idays draw near...

...and I'm mostly indifferent. Maybe it's because of how unbelievably awful much of this year has been, maybe it's being in a relatively new place and still being unemployed, or maybe I'm just more jaded and cynical as the years go on (I feel like I was maybe once part golden retriever, but had that crushed out of me at a young age). In any case, the Christmas spirit passed me by this year. Aside from getting to spend a bit more time with my mother on account of her maybe, finally, getting some time off from work, there's nothing here in the West I really have to look forward to.

That said, I'm heading East again--more specifically, to the Northeast--right after Christmas, and that I am looking forward to. My friend there has gotten out of the hospital, and is recovering nicely. She's really looking forward to seeing me, and the feeling is mutual. And aside from the religious crap, I'll be glad to see my dad again too...it's been half a year. It'll be a nice change of pace, being back in a part of the country that fits like a well-worn glove. I'll be busy for a few days once I return home too--in ways both good and bad--and hopefully will start the new year off on the right foot. The aforementioned friend will probably be visiting here in March, as might my friend from SoCal who should be regaining his freedom within a few days. A cousin of mine might be visiting as well sometime in the next month or two! So yeah, things might be busy...

Tiger Woods: who gives a shit? Apparently, my mother does...*sigh*

Still hoping that my stepdad continues his trend of actually leaving the house every now and then, leaving me both opportunity to voice chat with some of y'all and to spend some quality time with our four-legger. One of my zoo friends suggested bringing her camping sometime...well, one of my fantasies has always been snuggling with a beautiful dog next to a mountain lake on a cold night, so there ya go. So yeah...Happy Hanukkah, Awesome Solstice, Merry Christmas, Joyous Kwanzaa (wait, does anyone actually celebrate this?), and Happy all those other Holidays. Be nice--and naughty too, if the situation warrants it--and I'll see all y'all in what will hopefully be a more promising New Year!*
