the bleeding heart wants blood to wash up the shame

So a lot of my f-list (okay, most recently, just introductory) is posting really neat little lists about their WiPs and stuff, and it looks so nice and organized that it's tempting me into trying it, even though, uh. I am the least organized person ever ( Read more... )

zombie originals, werewolves, ideas, hail horrors hail, brokeback mountain, fic, outlines, mychem, keep making plans, batman, writer wangst, x-men, zombies

Oh hi! o/ There is nothing wrong with modern AUs, why do people keep dissing modern AUs. Everyone's a barista and nobody dies, it's awesome!

Also.

You wouldn't happen to have a link to that ANON ANON ANON thing if it exists somewhere, would you. *ahem* -A.

EXACTLY! And no one has to abandon anybody or put on a stupid helmet! It's fantastic! If I didn't come to fandom for fix it, I'd be trying to break into writing comics canon.

and AHAHAHA, oh, god, I'm trying to finish that TODAY, and either way I'll give you a link.

You know, I don't deny anybody their taste in what they care to write or read, so I can understand not liking modern or non-powered AUs or whatever - but goddamn, it confuses me how self-righteous people get about those.

Especially since I feel that, like, it's a cross-fandom staple, so it feels like such an ordinary thing? Like there's tons of Inception fic with Eames and Arthur meeting via normal jobs, and every fandom has coffee shop AUs, etc.

I don't know--for me, I hadn't ever encountered the anti normal person AU thing before in fandom, so it stands out as weird. And maybe it's because x-men is at the core about being different and always has been, yah di dah dah--but I feel like the movie alone doesn't convey that. But perhaps it does.

Overall, I've found XMFC fandom to be a really nice place! I may just be overlooking the wank, but it's treated me well so far.

Then again, my own boyfriend was all, "way to take away everything that makes Magneto cool," in response to hearing about our non powered modern AU plot. laaawl. \O/

ahaha. I was going to say that I think Erik kind of has an inner coolness that triumphs over circumstance (that bitch) but then I tried to imagine him totally uncool - like, awkward and uncomfortable and socially stupid in a way that he cares about - and it is pretty much a great image.

Also, this is a good time to tell you I think all the time about that one entry of yours about you and yr bf talking about THE SECRET IS MAGNETS, CHARLES and Erik being a pinball wizard. That is stuck inside my head forever now, apparently.

God, YES. I feel like I need to write awkward high school AU Erik, who is weird and broody and gangly and bad at things he wants to be good at. I miss writing hapless nerds! (Gerard Way was my former go-to staple for this, obvs) But: so many wips. So many.

Naturally, Charles would still be madly attracted to him, and it'll turn out that he doesn't have friends because some people are intimidated by the lone wolf thing. But mostly: ERIK, HAPLESS NERD. And Charles is younger than him but in the same math (or science?) class or something and Charles is briiillliant and Erik is having a bit of trouble and he is all :/ :/ about it.

In it's not your body, he isn't awkward so much as he is, uh. Delusional? Which is awkward, in a way.

ERIK BEING A PINBALL WIZARD IS MY HEADCANNON. Someone needs to make a vid of him being all ~intense~ to that song. I will let bf know that others are not immune to his mindworms, either. He is constantly slaying me with gay x men jokes, most of which I feel are actually too offensive to post about it.

OIH GOD THAT WOULD BE THE MOST AMAZING HIGH SCHOOL AUS. I am imagining him in this tiny dark bedroom lying on his back reading, like, Pern novels or ST novelizations.

And the thing is Charles is ALSO a nerd with no friends (like ... that's canon) but he's totally comfortable with it and likes himself, you know?

(ughhhh sexy doing homework together and having mad UST and Charles explaining things and keeps getting distracted and Erik kind of wants him to stop staring with those intense eyes and kind of wants him NOT to stop staring.)

OH MY GOD, CAN THEY END UP PLAYING DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS TOGETHER, CAN THEY, PLEASE.

dsjkkjsd, YES TO EVERYTHING YOU'VE SAID. And Charles is definitely still a nerd, but he goes around beaming at everyone and being polite and not being bothered at all, because he loves himself and he's sure that he is going to be jolly good with the ladies in college, or something, and it will all work out. While Erik is like, BROOD, we are going to be uncool forever, we are DOOMED, brood. And he resents the cool kids, whoever they are, and has a very us v. them mentality about, like, where people sit at lunch. While Charles just eats wherever, because: Charles.

Shaw is prom king and Emma is prom queen? OR SOMETHING.

I find homework UST extremely arousing, WHY.

EVERYTHING HERE IS PERFECT.

I find homework UST extremely arousing, WHY.

Seriously, what is that even ABOUT. But just like trying to concentrate on these math problems and sitting not even that close but being totally aware of the other's presence and Charles has this habit of chewing on his pencil and shaking his floppy hair when it gets in his eyes and sometimes he leans over into Erik's space to show him where he made a mistake on the sheet of paper. And Erik's dad works graveyard shift and their apartment is pretty small so he's asleep right in the bedroom next to the kitchen so even if Erik wanted to do something - which he WOULDN'T - he couldn't, because ... because.

Oh oh oh Erik with FAMILY, yes, and everyone is sort of relieved that he has a friend, and Charles is SO POLITE when he comes over, and Erik's mom loves him and it is EMBARRASSING, okay. I LOVE THE DAD ASLEEP IN THE OTHER ROOM. SDJDSJK, CONTAIN YOURSELVES, BOYS ( ... )

Ugh, I have to run off to work, but oh I was just thinking of Charles's sister and how Erik would maybe bond with her, even though she's one of the popular kids and could easily sit with the cheerleaders during lunch break, but somehow she seems happier when she's hanging out with them? And then idk, there'd be another sleepover and Charles would be down in the kitchen and Raven would maybe put her head on Erik's shoulder and he would put his arm around her, a little awkwardly, and maybe she'd say something like, sometimes he forgets that it's not like this for everyone else, and Erik is pretty sure she isn't just talking about the apartment-sized bedroom, and he's kind of at a loss because what do you say to that, and then Charles comes bounding back into the room, all like, midnight snack! and his gaze falls to Erik's hand on Raven's shoulder and Erik wonders why he feels guilty all of a sudden, it's not like they were doing anything OR SOMETHING IDK IDK CARRY ON I'LL JUST BE OVER HERE. -A.
