Surf's up, dude!

I just got back from the Sev. I needed beer. Not sure if that speaks more of my blase Native Floridian attitude toward weather, or my alcoholism. ;} I'm actually not sure I would have gone if I'd've realized just *how* bad the flooding was out there. I mean, the roads surrounding our house (corner lot) are under a few inches of water, but they're drivable. A few blocks in either direction, though, it gets a lot deeper... it was fun trying to avoid the roads that the cops have actually closed & try to guess which of the still open roads were slightly less flooded than others, & then pray that my poor little Buick was going to make it through the bumper-high water w/o stalling. I'm also never going to complain about how much of a PITA it is to mow our yard as it slopes toward the curb. High corner lots are awesome, especially, as I mentioned before, when your house is built even higher than the high ground. A bunch of the houses I passed on the way to the Sev were nowhere near as well off as we are.

The tree in the backyard is completely uprooted, now, & we still have power. Woot! We also have 2 more leaks. Boo!

Still raining. I wonder how the horses at work are fairing.
