Tablets!

Tablets. Opinions. Hit me.

Context: I have an [off brand] android tablet that is heavy, and no longer up-dateable. I mostly use it for reading comix and books (using the Kindle, Nook, and Aldiko apps), and some web browsing when I'm sitting away from my desktop computer. I can't do much web browsing anymore as every website generates a faux "this website's certificate has expired." It hasn't expired, it's just that my lovely tablet is geriatric and hasn't been able to update its firmware and software for oh... about two or three years now. I also need my tablet when I go on interviews; it's my replacement for carting my paper resume and a crapload of sample dox with me. I need it to display pdfs. And it's so difficult to stay connected to any wifi. I get about three minutes of connection before my tablet craps out and I have to reconnect and try to reload whatever webpage I was reading and then go through the whole "this site's security certificate has expired" bs again. Then the browser, whether I am using Chrome or the native android browser just craps out.

So. Those of you who own tablets and use them daily, what's your favorite and why? If you read a lot of epubs, like I do, what OS is best for you: mac, android, or ms? I really REALLY don't want to give up my access to epubs (which getting a kindle requires one to do as far as I can tell). Again, mostly, I use my tablet for reading all manner of books, then web browsing, then as a doc/pdf storage reference. What do you love, what do you hate? What's the most economical and most lightweight tablet you'd recommend?

Thanks!
