A bunch of my high school friends have tracked me down using facebook, and I find that most of them are very, very different than I or my current friends are. And not surprisingly, the big difference seems to be education.
The friends that went to college are doing roughly what I am these days. Many have families with young kids and for the most part they seem to be succeeding in their lives.
The friends that didn't go to college... for many of them it seems like their high school and late teens/very early twenties were the highlight of their lives. They post "nostalgic" photos of themselves in high school and then yern for the "good old days". I had a ex-boyfriend track me down who never really got it together, has a son and immediately started flirting with me. I have a dear friend who I lost contact with when he got married (I disapproved and he could not forgive me. She apparently broke his heart and took his money) who is now 300lbs+ and has issues with being in public. I have several friends who had kids straight out of school who are just sorta gliding from one pay check to the next.
Dude.
friends,
