The psychiatrist's office door was closed, but transparent: through it, a welcoming, golden light shown. Having conducted some research into the effect of color and mood, Daneel had spent some time creating a system that would allow him to vary the lighting in the office, and it was currently set to the spectrum of a wood-fire, adjusted to allow greater human visibility.
The task had consumed some time; he had registered that it was as much a benefit to him as to his few assigned clients. There was a certain stagnation in his processes, a tendency to slip into a low-energy waiting state that came with long periods of inactivity and the lack of some goal. A human might have named it 'ennui' or 'listlessness'; it was unfitting, however, to apply such subjective terms to himself.
He would need stimulation; if not by assigned or voluntary patients, then he would have to find a close and applicable puzzle himself.
