"It most assuredly wasn't your fault," insisted Five.
"But you were me. I saw you, and you...changed."
"...and now I'm back, none the worse for wear. I don't quite see the problem."
"The problem," Peri said, with an exasperated sigh, "is that everyone on the station was me." She'd watched herself die, over and over and she couldn't stop it. Couldn't begin to imagine how all those poor people felt as they turned into someone that wasn't them. "Oh, God. It's starting again."
"What?"
"That man," Peri whispered, pointing at the figure walking behind, well, it looked kinda like a robot dog. "He looks exactly like you..."
"Ah," he said, his turn for the exasperated sigh. "That'll be Varsh. He's...an android. Like Kamelion, he can take the form of any person he encounters."
"Well, c-can't you tell him to not steal your face?"
"I don't think that would be very fair to Varsh. It's his choice, after all."
"Doctor, he's just a machine. He's not really a person, is he?"
The 'machine' cracked a smile wider than Peri had ever seen the Doctor attempt, and offered an enthusiastic wave. "Doctor! Might I have a word with you?"
Five glanced at his doppelganger, and then at Peri. "I'll meet you back at the virtual arena later." The Doctor leisurely approached the other man, who could've been his twin, and they wandered down the corridors together, disappearing behind the first corner.
"Okay, Peri. You're on your own. No one is really staring at you. You just got caught in some really weird circumstances. Not like it's France all over again and people thought you were Queen Anne...And again, stop talking to yourself."
Peri decided to explore the station, trying to ignore those eyes on her.
"Okay, Peri, paranoia doesn't become you. Stop it..."
