Note: For Yullen Week. Post Alma. Finding Allen Walker Arc.

A newbie showed Kanda his new room.

The Order had the gall to assume that he was dead, so his old room was given away to some newcomer. Komui quickly apologized and said that he would be given a new room.

It was fine. Kanda planned to be on the road to search for Allen soon, so having a room right now wasn't necessary.

"It's good to have you back," Komui had said, shooting him a questioning look.

Kanda didn't give Komui an explanation. He had no obligation to.

Kanda's eyes twitched every time the newbie apologized for leading him down a wrong turn, and in the past, he would have given the kid a piece of his mind. But the Kanda now-the one who had returned from parting with Alma, the one who had became weary of lives lost for selfishness-had more patience.

This didn't stop him from growling in displeasure, however. The newbie jumped at the sound.

Kanda couldn't say that he gained no satisfaction from it.

The set of keys attached to the newbie's belt jingled. Kanda hoped that the newbie remembered which room it was and which key it was. Kanda was patient, but if this boy attempted to test every door to see where Kanda's room was, then he would lose it.

They made another turn down a different corridor, the correct one this time, and as they passed by a series of doors, Kanda realized how familiar this path was. The descending room numbers, the stretch of the walls, and the intricate patterns on the stone floor were all familiar.

When everyone moved to the new headquarter, Kanda knew the way to five places, max: his room, the training grounds, the dining hall, Komui's office, and the exit. He didn't bother to visit anyone else's room, so Kanda didn't understand why this corridor seemed so familiar to him.

Finally, they stopped at a door.

The newbie browsed through each key on the key ring, and, after a few moments, chose the correct one. He opened the door with a heavy click. "Hey you are."

Kanda frowned as he walked in, studying his new room. It was empty, except for the usual furniture-bookshelf, table, closet, and bed.

Yet, something about this room made Kanda felt unsettled.

"You," he turned to the newbie, who jumped at his voice. "Whose room was this before?"

Kanda had a good feeling that he knew who it was. He had walked down this corridor to ask this person for a spar before.

"Ummm."

"Spit it out, now."

"I-I don't remember his name, but he left the Order a while back."

"Well then," Kanda crossed his arms. "You better remember his name now. Quickly."

The newbie mumbled something.

"What was that? Talk louder."

"W-Walker," the newbie trembled under Kanda's gaze. "Allen Walker. The-the Order said to assume…assume…because he's a traitor."

There was a cold silence.

The newbie wrenched his hands from the key ring and clenched them by his side.

The keys jingled.

Finally, Kanda walked bristly out of the room. "Tell Komui I want another room."

"But-but-"

"I don't want another exorcist's room," said Kanda. "Go!"

"But Allen Walker is no longer an exorcist," the newbie said. "The Order said that-" He stopped in his track because the glare that Kanda gave him was so fierce that his insides were crushed into mush.

"I. Don't. Want. Another. Exorcist's. Room." Kanda narrowed his eyes. "Is that understood?"

"Y-yes!" the newbie started backing away from Kanda, eyes frightened. "I'll go tell Supervisor right away!" He turned away and ran down the corridor, hoping that Kanda hadn't changed his mind and decided to slice him into pieces.

Kanda sighed in irritation.

Fuck patience. He was going to go down to the training grounds and challenge the first person he would see to a spar.

Fuck the Order.

Allen Walker was still an exorcist, whether God or the Order liked it or not.
