On Monday in class we started to read Hamlet: The Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare. I read it I think in 10th grade but I do not remember it at all. All I remeber is the famous quote, "to be or not to be, that is the question". Hahaha I am pretty sure at everyone knows that quote is from Hamlet. Have y'all ever seen Billy Madison? At the end he acts out that scene and it is halarious! Anyways we discussed who the protaganist and antaganist were as well as who was the tragic hero and what were his flaws. On the reading quizz I did not do so well, I think I got 3 out of 5 questions right, which is a lot better than I did on most of the reading quizzes but I actually read this play! The play was alright but Shakespeare is not my favorite. His use of words confuses me, and I think it confuses a lot of people. I also turned in Paper 3 on Monday and I feel that it is my best paper yet, due to the facts and issues that were present in Sherman Alexie's, "This is What it Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona".
We continued to read Shakespeare's Hamlet throughout the week due to its length; and on Wednesday we continued to discuss the characters and the purpose of this play. It was very beneficial to us as students to study and examine this masterpeice and legend of a play in this semester of english. In english 1301 we did not discuss anything of this magnitude and I really think I learned from it.
