week six

This week we reviewed and looked at a poem titled Red Riding Hood by Anne Sexton. It has two parts to it and i learned that the fairy tale, childrens version of Little Red Riding Hood was about sexual tension of a young girl. I honestly didnt know what the point of that kids story was, but now i do. Our class had numerous interesting conversations about the poem and its deeper implications. Anne Sexton is a wonderful writer and i really enjoy how she alludes to many things that i am fimiliar with, it helps understand her as a writer and understand what message she is trying to get across. I actually did my third paper of the class over this same poem because of how much in detail we covered it and how i understood it the most out of all the other poems we read that week. But we did read another one where it was about a kind of strange auther writing about a supermarket in california, but i dont think it was actually about that supermarket. The class got off topic because the author was a proud-gay i guess. I dont know i asent really invloved in the conversations because that is all people were saying. i am not against gays at all but it seems like the class as a whole are. So it was easy to pick Anne Sextons poem over the supermarket one to do my paper over. Hopefully i did good on that paper as well, i havent received it back even though it was due like two weeks ago. I dont know maybe i was absent when Dr. Angel Cann returned them! Probably........Poetry is one form of writing i do not typically enjoy but the few we went over in class really opened my eyes to poetry as a whole.
