[It's a fresh, bright day on the bank of Lake Hylia. The birds are out and chirping in full force, and the face of the lake lies serene and undisturbed. A picturesque spring morning.
To the far left corner of the field in a square patch of dirt a blade flashes around a pair of rotating, pivoting scarecrows. As the three spar- two animated straw men, one hero- the scarecrows take turns jabbing and prodding the swordsman whenever his back is turned, on several occasions delighting in stealing small items off his person.
When his hat is stolen Link retaliates with a sound swing of his blade- only to be dodged.]
Close one. Well, come on, then! You've got all the enthusiasm but none of the timing. That timing is the rhythm of life! It's music! Again, again!
[The Ordon Sword flashes by Bonooru's left side this time, the Scarecrow darting out of reach at the last, crucial second. Pieces of straw spring into the air at the close, clean cut. Pierre, ignored, quickly takes advantage of the opponent's exposed back, giving him a rough jab between the shoulder blades to throw him off balance.]
Ow, ow! [The swordsman swings around and rubs his back indignantly.] How am I supposed to actually complete an attack when you both keep shoving me?
Well if you don't like it, dodge it! I see a move once and never forget it, baby! Remember that!
[As if to add emphasis, Pierre grabs the swordsman by the tunic and thrusts him to the ground. Link quickly catches the momentum of the movement, tucking into a roll as soon as he hits the packed dirt.]
Ah, ah, take care to figure out which direction you'll end up pointing!
[With a high spirited, amused chuckle Bonooru seizes the Hylian by the ankle and in one fell swoop, raises him high into the air. The captive hero struggles mightily to no avail, finally giving up and shooting his kidnapper a cross look.]
Okay, okay. I get it. Put me down and I'll try again.
[No response.]
Hey.. hey! [He laughs, and starts squirming again as Pierre takes advantange of the compromised position ... to tickle.] W-what are you doing? Stop! Stop! You win already! This isn't [He gasps in a breath in between bursts of laughter.] -fair!
[The scene continues, until the young hero finally wiggles out of the boot in the scarecrow's grip and drops down into the dirt again with a groan.]
Add insult to injury, why don't you..
[As he sits up and brushes dirt out of his hair, both scarecrows bend cheerily over.]
Well, are you ready to try again? [Bonooru then adds, kindly:] This time you'll be sure to watch your back more carefully.
Right, right. [He smiles brightly.] Give me a minute to put my stuff back on. This time you guys are hay.
