What is it that makes for good, publishable research? I came up with three distinct axes:

1. Priority (or, "novelty"): Being first in an area where no one has yet worked.

Hmm.... LJ is apparently unhappy with my choice of userpic. My default pic seems to have randomly morphed into a mysterious, pouting, musician-esque archetype posed before an impressionist tableau.
