Wow. Day three of Drumline camp has finished. I'm surprised how much material we have already covered. Last year day three, we were still working on Soup but now we've finished All the warm-ups, Numerous cadences and stand tunes, pregame, and we are already working our way through the first half-time tune. I really think the progress has been more in attitude and concentration, which have made our playing improve tenfold. I'm truly impressed with the state of our line so far; at this stage the future looks bright.
I think I'm going to pass out from sheer exhaustion. Sure last year we had hour long crack sessions, but this year the sheer volume of music we have been covering is completly exhausting. Plus, snare drum carriers take a bit of getting used to. You don't realize how much pain your shoulders are in until you put in on. My shoulders are numb and bruised. I could really use some kinda cooling gel or something. Plus, I fell asleep on my drumsticks when I got home yesterday, so my side is also completly bruised. Once again, stupid judgement on my part.
Tomorrow, the Northview high school band and drumline will be performing for the fulton county superintendent. It was up to us whether we chose to perform or not, so we voted the democratic way to perform, by a vote of 9-3. (Henri was not present) Further incentive for deciding to perform in the morning was that Mike said that if we did, drum camp would finish at 2:30pm instead of 4pm, which is great. A free evening to sleep.
I really love drumming. I really do.
In other news, I'm sleepy. Nap time.
AND ITS MONGEESE! Hahahaha
