So I got a lab job. The pay’s kinda low ($10/hr), but it’s pretty easygoing and has flexible hours. I’ve spent the majority of my time potting plants so far, but now that I’m finally done with the 500+ plants I can continue with the actual lab work. My supervisor, Chi-Wei, seems to be the only other Asian person in the lab other than me (is it coincidental that I was assigned to work under him?). His name is kinda slurred by the non-Asians in the lab; when they say it, it sounds like “chewy”. He’s from Taiwan, has been hopping around labs in the States, and is now studying the vector biology of grapevine leafroll associated viruses. I am basically helping him with his research. Lots of fun.
Hmm… what else? I:
-have been eating a lot of curry lately
-started playing God of War before classes began, but haven’t touched it since
-washed a disturbing pile of dishes
-somehow didn’t have any credits from before I matriculated at Berkeley count towards my degree; currently trying to fix that
-hate going to 8 am physics labs/discussions
-resisted the temptation to splash HCl on people in my chemistry lab
-got accepted into the Biology Scholars Program
-am thinking about studying nanotoxicology sometime
-finally saw the Liar Game finale
-tried to finish 山田太郎ものがたり, but stopped because Sakurai Sho’s smile kept making me cringe and laugh
-have a horrifying math midterm Monday, followed by physics midterm on Thursday
-lost my ring today, so am in the process of either finding it or replacing it
I don't remember anything else right now. But I'm listening to nice music. d^_^b
Mom’s coming to visit next week. That means massive clean up.
