Writer's Block: Annals of Animal Warfare

This is like asking who would win in Optimus Prime VS. Thomas Xavier. Oh well--I'll look for an answer anyway.

If it's a shark, then it has sand-paper skin, strong and hard angles in its fins, and several rows of teeth (in this case, this being six-feet wide. Because the shark's a predator, it probably has binocular vision, as well as an extremely firm muscle-density. All in all, it's like a sharp water torpedo with whirling blades (teeth) of death.

The giant squid (which isn't as big as the colossal squid, actually) grabs its prey with a pair of grabbing-prey tentacles. The suckers at the ends of these have serrated edges, which explains some circular sucker-scars found on great big whale-skin a while back. The squid brings the prey to its mouth and tears at it with its teeth, and then shreds the meat further with a--I kid you not--tooth'd tongue.

So we two aquadynamic, dangerous, carnivorous creatures attacking each other. Considering the fact that as far as I know, sharks'll eat anything, and that I previously mentioned that giant squids don't have any qualms with going after whales and other deep sea fish, they're both more or less engineered to handle each other in combat. I think that the fight would depend in a very large part on the condition, age, and size of the shark and squid, as those might tip the scales.

If the age, condition, and sizes of these creatures are all optimal for super-special-awesome Mortal-Kombat time, then I have my money on the shark; the squid is pretty lethal, and one he gets his tentacles on you you can count on chunks of skin and flesh getting ripped off, and on the rest of you getting dragged in, but the squid still has to get you close to...

... You know what? My money's on the squid. After all, he's got the reach on the shark, and once he grabs on then it's all over; sure, most of the terminal damage is probably done by the beak (and tooth'd tongue wtf,) but if those tentacles can keep a shark from getting away, then they can also keep it from getting any momentum to charge, which is where I imagine some of the most serious damage could come from. True, the shark's probably going to have some reeeaaally heavy thrashing, so the squid'll have to worry about that...

By the way. This is all assuming that the shark is 3/4ths the Squid's size at biggest. If the shark's any bigger, then he'll probably have the squid down to his knees (tentacle-joints whatnot) very early on. :3

So, what do you people think? Squid or shark?
