Congradulate me, people, I'm yellow-line-green belt in Taekwondo, now.
The previous exams, the ones from white to yellow, went on half an hour later than they should have, pushing our exam to be later as well. As I waited I spent my time doing little things for the class before mine, such as untying the protective vests from the little kids who were done with their spars, these spars being the last part of the evaluation of the exam. I am now 'Auntie Dorothy' to some of them. They were adorable. <3
Of course, later came our exams and it was eventually my turn for my spar. Two or three exchanges of kicks in I smashed knees with the other girl--I think she got it on the shin or something, or at least somewhere that it wouldn't hurt, but it hurt enough for me that it was a few seconds until I could even straighten up. The fight ended there, and one of the little boys I'd helped with his jacket came over when he saw me having difficulties, so he untied mine for me. The ache went away after a while, and I probably could have asked for a rematch at the end of someone else's spar, but that would have required putting the vest back on and then an inevitable real injury, like what happened when I hurt the top of my right foot. (The bones shifted slightly from the blow, though nothing was broken or fractured.)
Ironic that I waited for the day of the exam to get hurt, but hey, if I got the next belt I'm not complaining--especially if it's just a bruise. (Unless it's worse than I think and I'm kidding myself, but I don't think I am. XD; )
Peace out.
