so, tonight i bought my plane tickets to get myself to kampala, uganda for my internship this summer. may 11-august 11.

March 4-7: Washington D.C. for a Jack's Mannequin concert and weekend with good friend from Berkeley
March 8: 23rd birthday
March 11-March 22: whirlwind trip to Thailand and Cambodia with bff/roommate
March 25-27: admitted students weekend in Philadelphia for Penn Law

LET'S SKIP FEBRUARY, PLZ.

Well, here I am at the end of my semester abroad. Every time I think about leaving this city, this country, my heart stops beating for a second. BUT. I have so much to look forward to in the next month or so, maybe it will soften the blow...

Oh, Shabbat. We got up at 8am today - which was so nice after having 6:30 wake-ups all week. We went to breakfast at 8:30, where we had milk (boxed) and Corn Flakes, which was so exciting! Afterwards, some people went on a hike/walk, and I went to sleep until 12:30, when we all went to lunch.

Okay, so writing this time is going to hurt really badly, because the blister I got yesterday popped and is really red and raw.

We got up today at 7am instead of 6:30 and ate breakfast like usual. We worked today with Marcelina, working in the morning to plant guineo trees (which are like bananas). I spent most of the morning filling in soil around ( Read more... )

A lot happened today, oh man. We got up at 6:30 - although all of us felt totally dead - and went to eat breakfast like usual. After we ate, we walked to our new work site for the day, which was only about 20 minutes away. What we were doing was picking beans for cattlefeed... it was a lot hotter today than yesterday, and our water was farther away ( Read more... )

Day 2! We got up at 6:30 and went to breakfast a little after 7am. We ate, did dishes, and then hiked about 40 minutes to our worksite of the day. We were essentially putting earth/dirt into little plastic bags, where the farmers will later plant the coffee and let it start to grow, and then transfer them into the ground.
