Workstuff and Bureaucrap

Well, I managed to get done in time, with about an hour and a half to spare, which is awesome. I really feared this time would be it; I kept being done just in the nick of time like in the movies, and this would be the part where reality bites me in the butt. But once more, despite all odds, I made it, so I feel all awesome.

Next week is just one more category audit, another big one, but if that's all there is I can definitely handle it. Then I get the week after off for holidays. Sweet.

I have to say it's kind of cool to have several days of battle followed by several days to recuperate, rather than a daily grind. Not sure how long I can keep getting by like this, we'll have to see how I do when I get put on the Expanded list, but at least it somehow feels better, a bit more satisfying, less of an unending drag.

When I brought Paul home on Monday, I'd concluded that we wouldn't be too compatible living together for a prolonged period; when he gets in his gaming trances, he's cranky as heck, to the point of irrational, yet he refuses to take a break for the longest stretches of time. He recovers later and regrets gaming for so long and getting so ticked, but for those hours he's emitting so much negative energy and words that it creates a lot of tension. So, while my bro's great for company, I don't think he'd be great for a roommate. Better in small doses.

He might come over again Saturday; I'm gonna go back fam-home Friday once I get this place spiffed up more, to get my cat again, drop off some groceries for Mom (Yes while she often gets stuff for me, I also get stuff I can't finish and give to them, so we sort of even out), and to scout the other stores for a computer headset mic since around here they're hard to find and expensive. Nobody seems to wanna go below fifteen bucks (thirty in most stores, sheesh), but then again I can't afford the gas to go running to all the places I really ought to check like Circuit City or Radio Shack. Heck, I keep even having dreams about the soaring gas prices, it bothers me so much.

Which leads into where I was all day today. I'm glad I opted to go meet my parents in Marietta to get my title transferred to Ohio and get license plates; if I were to use West Virginia plates, I'd have to pay personal property tax on my car, but this way I don't have to and used my parents' address. Technically still their car anyway, cuz they paid for it and Dad can't yet sell the Fiero to make up the difference.

Anyway, had I gone alone, I'd have thought they were pulling one on me with all the charges and fees that went into this crap. If my parents weren't so darn generous toward me lately, I wouldn't have been able to afford to use my own car... cost $5.50 or so, plus tax, (came to almost eight bucks) just to have the guy make sure my serial number matched the one on the title! Just to lead him to the parking lot and let him look for like five seconds on my windshield and five more seconds looking at my odometer. I wish I could get paid to do something like that, I'd gladly do it all day!

Then he revealed that since I was getting new plates (I had a temporary WV paper one on there that expired today), that I would have to pay for a three-month period (20-some bucks), then on my birthday (December 29th) get a new set for $35. I nearly swallowed my tongue. "What? My birthday is this month. Isn't there supposed to be a grace period if you get the plates in the same month?"

"Nope, even if it's the DAY before your birthday you still have to pay for the whole three month segment."

He did suggest getting another thirty-day temp paper one, cuz it's cheaper, so I went with that, fifteen bucks or so. Totally stupid. My parents took care of that (as well as the title transfer which ran them an even uglier amount that I THINK I remember right but hope I don't... I'll ask later though -_-), but it ticks me off that they had to and that it costs so much just to own what you own, then to use what you own, even though you already paid to own it in the first place as well as paying to pay for owning it. @_@ Not even counting MORE useage payment in gas.

Oh, and what else is cute is that they're raising the cost of license plates ANOTHER TEN BUCKS on January 1st! So I'll have to spend my friggin birthday or the very day after (with only a short window of them being open) going all the way over and getting new metal license plates to avoid the rate hike! ARGH!!!

Friggin bureaucrats find SO many ways to take your money, and it's STILL not enough for 'em. I think they should all get a turn living on my kinda wages for a month, sheesh. :/ Or would that make them even more greedy?

Oh wells, it's over for now. Finally got new lightbulbs when Mom took me to Mooly-Mart, so no more darkness, yay. And got more milk that I shouldn't be drinking, yogurt and cheesy pizza I shouldn't be eating... If I keep forcing the dairy, maybe my stupid intolerance will fade away someday. As long as the yummy taste continues to outweigh the tummy-woes and toilet-woes, I'll just keep popping generic-Lactaid and consuming my bovine-udder-juice, and nothing shall stop me! Mwahahahahaaaaa!

stupid government, milk, brother, work
