Everyday, a new co-worker asks me what I am planning to do. And everyday I think the same thing before answering, "I don't know". And what I think before replying- 'everyone else is really worried - why am I not?'
Maybe because I haven't accepted that we are all getting canned not because of the economy, but because the company made a business decision to just not market us anymore and will eventually buy an entire insurance company. And one of that size... is not a company I want to work for. Been there... not enjoyed being so micro-managed I couldn't do my job because management would fight among themselves for whose way was the best before I could do my job.
Some notice is better than none, but a wishy washy time frame of 4-6 months and then having your boss tell you it's more like 2 months really gets people nervous. I've been looking, but I don't want to continue in insurance really. I spoke with my contact at ridenow and right now they are laying people off and not hiring so the estimator position I was offered 6 months ago is not an option. The toy industry is really bad, the few of the family owned dealers here are also not hiring.
IMS SHOW:
Anyway, I was disappointed that Ducati only had hypermotards for test rides. Thanks but I was looking forward to riding the new M1100. And then they released the streetfighter... I just drooled when I saw that thing. It's like an aprilia 999. Almost benelli looking. The show was disappointing - it was literally half the size it was in 2007. Very few vendors, few customs, and hardly any historic/antique motorcycles. That and most of the manufacturers were outside. It was a nice day, but really inside would have been better as half of the bikes were under a tent and half were out in the sun, and hot. It was difficult to take photos and some of the bikes were on the sloped area of the parking lot.
I will have the photos of up tonight.
