So, Sabaton's new album arrived in the mail today. :D I've been waiting to listen to Heroes for a while and I'm so glad that I have it now. The anticipation is totally worth it.
It's not my favourite; Carolus Rex was better. Heroes has a couple of songs that just don't work for me; I'm thinking mainly of "The Ballad of Bull" and "Inmate 4859". Carolus Rex, on the other hand, doesn't have a single song that I don't like. But... Heroes is still an awesome album, and the songs that really hit the mark totally make up for the ones that I don't like.
Kind of hard to pick favourites... But if I had to, I'd say "Night Witches", "Smoking Snakes", "Soldier of 3 Armies" and "Hearts of Iron" are the ones I like best. "Hearts of Iron" is a little bit different because usually the songs about that side leave me feeling a little unsettled. But not the case with this one.
This album has put me in the mood to research ALL THE THINGS. Well, history-related things, of course. Though not necessarily WWII, even though that's what the album's about, because I generally find the subject too unsettling. Or depressing. Or both. No, best to stick with the 1600s, or maybe the early 18th-century, I've had that stuff on my mind anyway.
In other news, it's been blah and rainy for most of the week, and we're supposed to get frost tonight. WTF. Where is summer?
