I've been marathon-ficcing all weekend. Oh, man. I'm running out of time--! Fortunately, now that the draft is done, I can breathe a little. This thing needs to be in by midnight on the 7th, so I'm good. I'm awesome, in fact! Monday is a day off, so I'll have plenty of time for revising (and rewriting. This thing's going to need some rewriting, yes indeedy.)
But man, this will be my last fest for a while. Writing on a deadline can get pretty stressful! I need to just chill out. And wow, it'll be nice to be able to work on the other fics that I had to put on hold for this thing.
No regrets, though. It's been fun. ;)
Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to do some things beside from editing, though. My habitat is currently kind of fucked and I need to give everything a good solid clean. (Please understand that my version of "fucked" is quite a bit more tidy than some people, but it's still fucked to me, haa). Not to mention things like... reading and studying and all those movies I've been meaning to watch for months, bah.
Though on the reading front, the novel I'm working on is kind of hard to get through, which is disappointing. But it has nothing to do with the writing, and everything to do with the subject matter. It's one of Jo Nesbø's crime novels, and while I usually like his stuff, this one deals with neo nazis, and that shit just plain makes my skin crawl. Sure, they're the criminals in the novel, but man, that shit is so much do not want that I'm having a hard time getting into it. My own fault, I guess - if I like an author, then I tend to just pull their other books from the shelf without reading the blurb on the back, working under the assumption that I'll like them regardless of what they're actually about. Usually it works fine! This time, well, uh, hmm. ... Well, I'll get through it eventually, it's just posing a challenge right now.
Man, I should read some nonfiction after I'm done this one, though. I was going through my trunks full of books in the basement - most of my stuff is in storage, y'see, because there just plain isn't any room for it now that I've moved back home - and good lord, there are lots of awesome history books there that I completely forgot I even owned. Stuff on the black death that I haven't read yet, interesting things about Canada in WWI that I kept meaning to get to but didn't... Wow. Man, I wish I had a decent bookshelf, then I'd actually be able to see what I have.
