Title: When Love breaks free, the inevitable befalls.
Featuring: Lee Chaerin (CL), Kwon Jiyong (GD)
Rating: PG-13; contains sexual implications?
Summary: Jiyong couldn’t help but notice her beauty. The moonlight that peeped through the curtains of her window shone on her porcelain skin, leaving him awed with her glowing presence. It was like as if she was the forbidden fruit that both Adam and Eve couldn’t resist. The forbidden apple that God punished Adam and Eve for.
“Chaerin, that’s enough. You need to stop.”
Jiyong had no idea why she was acting this way. He had no clue what was going through her mind for the last two hours he had been watching her.
Loud music blared in the background while colorful lights flashed around them as he continued to watch her down her more-than-fifteenth shot of vodka. They were seated next to each other at a table by the corner of the hottest and most popular club of Seoul, ‘Paradise’.
Jiyong was surprised to have received Chaerin’s call to meet her at ‘Paradise’. Chaerin was never the one who would take the initiative to meet up or someone who would go to a club voluntarily. Jiyong had always been the one who dragged her there to have fun occasionally.
At first, he thought that perhaps it was the stress from work that caused her to act so strangely; so he let her drink whatever she wanted and entertained her by drinking with her too but as the hours passed, she was getting more and more aggressive with the volume she was consuming.
“Aww, come on, oppa!” Chaerin slurred. “We came here to have fun! Stop being such a party pooper and drink with me!” She then reached for the big bottle of vodka and poured herself another shot. But, before she could bring the shot glass to her lips, Jiyong had already snatched it from her and downed it in one gulp.
Jiyong was beginning to feel worried. His gut told him that something bad was going to happen if he didn’t get away from her soon. He didn’t know why but he was not feeling like himself that night. It was as if the demon inside him had awakened after all these years of being shut in the dark corners of his soul.
Kwon Jiyong, the young man of twenty-one, leader of Big Bang, one of the hottest boy bands in all of South Korea, was in love with this girl. This girl who went by the name of Lee Chaerin or more known by the nation as YG Entertainment’s new girl band, 2NE1’s leader, CL. He had been in love with her for as long as he could remember, cared for her more than he should, and loved her more than anyone in his life.
As he downed another shot down his throat, Jiyong couldn’t remember how much he drank but he was beginning to feel a little tipsy. He knew he would lose it if things kept on going further.
He needed to get her back to home before he loses his control.
“Chaerin, let’s go now. You’ve had enough for one night. You need to go home.”
The instant the words rolled off his tongue, the smile on Chaerin’s face vanished. Her next response took Jiyong by surprise. In split of a second, the bottle of vodka was already in her hands and she was already drinking its’ remaining contents.
Like a reflex, Jiyong grabbed the bottle from her. “CHAERIN! WHAT ARE YOU DOING? ARE YOU CRAZY?!”
“YES! I’M GOING CRAZY! I’M GOING CRAZY FROM ALL OF THIS! I’M GOING CRAZY BECAUSE OF YOU!”
Her sudden outburst rendered Jiyong shocked and speechless. He didn’t know how to react. His eyes met hers and he noticed that tears were beginning to glisten in her eyes. Their eyes locked in silence for several minutes. When Jiyong found the courage to speak again, he asked her in a very careful and cautious tone, “What are you saying?”
He watched as a tear escaped her eye. Chaerin stood up from her seat and grabbed her bag hastily. “Nothing. I’m leaving now.” She muttered as she left their table rather quickly.
Immobile in his seat, Jiyong tried to register what just happened. He had never seen Chaerin so unstable like this before and the fact that she wasn’t telling him what was bothering her worried him. What could have caused her to be this way? Was it really because of him? But, what could he possibly have done to have caused her to be upset like this?
Jiyong saw her back becoming smaller and smaller as she walked towards the back exit of the club.
“Chaerin! WAIT!” Jiyong called after her.
But it was too late.
She was already out of the door.
Without another minute to waste, Jiyong pulled out a few notes from his wallet and hastily threw it on the table. Grabbing his jacket, he quickly put it on as he ran after her. As much as he was worried for her safety to be walking alone in the streets of Seoul in the middle of the night, he needed to know what was troubling her. It was not like her to be keeping secrets from him. They shared everything together.
Stepping out into the back alley of the club, he was greeted with the cold, harsh night air. Bringing the jacket closer to his body, he ran down the alley and out to the main street. The street was poorly lit with only a few streetlights as its source of light. There were no signs of wandering taxis and the pounding of the disco music that echoed from the club made him more anxious. His eyes scanned the area and to his dismay, not even her shadow was in sight.
Jiyong took his phone out of his pocket and pressed her number he had on speed dial.
“The number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
He dialed again for the second time.
“The number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
Damn it.
“The number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
F.UCK!
Shoving his phone back into his pocket, a rush of panic engulfed him as he ran down the street, searching aimlessly for her. He cried and shouted her name but to no avail. She was still nowhere in sight. Deciding that he would look elsewhere, he ran back to the club to get his car.
Shutting his car door swiftly, he started the engine.
Where could she be?
Stepping onto the accelerator, he drove to all the places he thought she would be.
Cherry Blossom Park.
She wasn’t there at their usual spot.
The playground near his parent’s place.
Searched the whole area. No sign of her.
Han river.
Checked the route where they always jogged together. She was nowhere to be found.
Slamming the car door in frustration, Jiyong slumped in his car seat and ran a hand through his hair, a gesture he does whenever he felt lost. His mind reeled for other possible places she might be at or who she might be with.
With his forehead rested onto the steering wheel, he closed his eyes. He was lost; he didn’t know what else he could do. He had searched everywhere he could think of but he still couldn’t find her. Apprehension gnawed at him, biting away every piece of hope he had left.
She’ll be fine, she’ll be fine, she’ll be fine.
He repeated those words in his head like a mantra, praying that she was safe from harm.
Jiyong didn’t know how he got back home. When he realized, he found himself in the lift, already heading up to his apartment floor. He stepped out of the lift and reached for the keys in his pocket. His mind was filled with thoughts of her as he turned around the corner and into the corridor leading to his apartment unit.
It was then he saw something unexpected.
There she was. Right there; sitting on the floor in front of his apartment door, waiting for him. He also noticed the bottle of wine in her hand.
“Chaerin!”
Chaerin looked up at him, revealing her tear-stained face. The moment his eyes met hers, he felt his heart shatter a little. He could almost feel every ounce of pain that reflected in her eyes. Jiyong have never seen her cry like this for the many years he knew her. The last time he saw her cry was during the surprise birthday party YG family and him prepared for her and 2NE1 after their first win. For someone who was tough, strong and laughed a lot, Chaerin was never the type to cry unless she was really touched, happy or in very deep pain. So now, he wanted to know why. He wanted to know the reason of her sufferings; what caused her to seem so broken.
As much as he wanted to know what about him that made her so upset, he knew that now wasn’t the time.
Maybe he would ask her tomorrow.
Bending down towards her, he slowly took the bottle out of her grasp and took her in his arms, helping her stand up.
“I’ll take you home.”
Silence.
Taking her silence as a ‘yes’, Jiyong led her towards the lift and then out of the apartment building to his car.
The journey to Chaerin’s house was a quiet one. For the whole drive, Jiyong took occasional glances at her, making sure she was fine while Chaerin remained silent in her seat with her body turned towards the window, refusing to face him.
By the time they got to Chaerin’s place, Jiyong came to realize that she had already fallen asleep. He turned off his engine and walked around the car to her side. After he opened the door, he unbuckled her seat belt and in one swift movement, he gathered her in his arms.
Upon reaching her apartment, he took out the keys from her purse with one hand as he supported her body weight with other hand by hugging her close. Kicking the door open with a soft kick, he carried her to her bedroom. Jiyong gently placed her on her bed and covered her with her blanket.
Kneeling next to the bed until he was at eye level with her, Jiyong couldn’t help but notice her beauty. The moonlight that peeped through the curtains of her window shone on her porcelain skin, leaving him awed with her glowing presence.
It was like as if she was the forbidden fruit that both Adam and Eve couldn’t resist.
The forbidden apple that God punished Adam and Eve for.
The forbidden apple that leaves you intrigued by its beauty. The apple that is mystic in nature and possessed perfection far too perfect to be real. It screams to you, chanting phrases of sweetness, taunting, and teasing your patience.
Everything about her seemed so mesmerizing; her shut eyelids, the slow breathing he could hear coming from her nose, the way her body rose and relaxed, and her lips…
Her luscious lips.
As if he was under a sinful yet beautiful spell, he leaned towards her to meet her lips with his. However, when he was merely an inch away, his conscience pulled him back, telling him it was wrong for him to be acting the way he did.
Kwon Jiyong. Control yourself. Leave now.
Abruptly, he stood up and walked out of her bedroom.
He needed to leave. He needed to leave before he lost control and do things that he might regret.
Almost reaching the main door that would lead him out of the apartment, he suddenly heard quick, rushed footsteps coming from behind him. Within seconds, he felt a pair of familiar arms wrap around his waist from the back. Shock filled his senses, rooting his feet on the spot.
“Jiyong… please, don’t leave.”
Jiyong cringed at the brokenness of her voice. It hurt him so much to hear a strong girl like her speak as if she was really breaking into pieces. Chaerin was never a girl to show her weaknesses to others. She had to appear tough, strong and confident in order to live up to the expectations as the extraordinary, charismatic leader of 2NE1. But, Jiyong knew that underneath all her fierceness, bad-a.ss attitude, the strong front she always had on, lies an ordinary, cute, beautiful young girl who had her share of problems and insecurities in this cold, cruel world of the entertainment business.
He closed his eyes and willed himself to self-control. As much as he longed to stay, he couldn’t. He valued her future for far too much to do that. “Chaerin, it’s late. Go back to bed.”
He felt her shake her head. “No.”
“Chaerin, you’re tired, aren’t you? Just go to sleep. You have practice tomorrow. You need your rest. I’ll see you in the-”
“JIYONG! I LOVE YOU!”
Instantly, a million of thoughts rushed into Jiyong’s mind all at once. He found himself confused with her sudden confession for he had always thought that the one she always loved, admired and adored was Park Hong Jun, Teddy, her ‘forever ideal man’ and never him. Confusion and bewilderment caught his voice in his throat; leaving him absolutely speechless.
As if she was listening to his thoughts, she continued, “It was never Teddy oppa to be begin with. It had always been you, Ji. The one I’ve always loved is you. Yes, I do love Teddy oppa too but not in the way how a woman loves a man… I…” Her last words faded as a soft cry escaped her lips.
His heart ached for her. He never knew that Chaerin was feeling that way for so many years. He found himself foolish to have thought that he knew Chaerin very well, understood her more than anyone else in the world.
But he was wrong.
Maybe he knew nothing about her after all.
He wanted so much to tell her that he shared the same feelings. He wanted so much to turn around and kiss her tears away. He wanted so much to apologize for being silent for all those years and to have caused her to endure everything on her own. He wanted so much to love her openly and shower her with all his love and care but…
…he could do none of that.
He was too afraid of the consequences. The consequences that may lead to the disbandment of 2NE1 or perhaps the downhill of her career.
The guilt he will have towards her would be too much to handle.
“Chaerin, let me go.”
Another soft cry escaped her lips and he felt her hands tighten around his waist. Tears she shed were already seeping through the back of his shirt, slowly killing him inside.
Please, let go… Don’t you see how this is killing me too?
Closing his eyes, he felt a tear slip from the corners of his eye. “Let go.” he muttered, masking the anguish he felt inside perfectly with his harsh tone.
“No.”
“I said, LET GO.”
“NO!”
He tightened his fists he had on his sides, fighting the building urge of turning around to kiss her senselessly, to tell her the sorrow he felt too.
One last time…
If Chaerin didn’t let go of him, he knew he would lose it. He will not be able to control himself anymore.
“LET GO, Chaerin.”
Her arms around him grew tighter. “No.”
Jiyong felt his heart skip a beat.
This was it.
The silent sinner that he kept locked away in the deepest of his soul has emerged from his shadows.
“If you don’t let me go now, I will never ever let go you again.” Jiyong heard himself say.
Her cries stopped and it followed by a soft whisper.
“Then don’t ever let me go.”
In a split of a second, Jiyong spun around and cornered her to a nearby wall. The raging fire of desire flared in his body and fanned to greater heights by the woman who stood in front of him. All those years of suppressed feelings and silent love were all unleashed; broken free from the restraints he had cast upon them. His breathing grew heavy and he could hear the pounding of his heart in his ear.
With one arm around her waist and a hand placed on her face, he kissed away the tears that glistened on her cheeks; his lips quivering at every tear. He traced her lips with his trembling thumb in slow motion and looked into her eyes as if to ask for her permission. She closed her eyes and opened them again, giving consent to what he was about to do.
Leaning in slowly, closing the distance between them inch by inch, Jiyong couldn’t help but wonder how many times he had dreamed about this, how long he had longed for this moment to show her all the love he had for her.
A quarter inch away from her lips, he whispered, “I love you.”
Then, their lips met.
With this kiss, Jiyong attempted to show her all that he was and everything he was not. With this kiss, he would tell her everything he could not voice for all those years. His hands were on her face to show that he cared, his eyes closed to show his honesty, and his touch gentle to not harm her being.
He felt her hands rising to the back of his neck as her lips grew eager, urging him on.
He surrendered to her desire and responded to his own lust and desire rising to the surface as he gave in to her need. Lips parted, tongues moved freely, and breaths seemed to freeze in the air as they both clung to each other. A moan broke the silence, though neither could be sure who uttered the sound. Soon, they found themselves on her bed as they showered each other with intoxicating kisses and sweet caresses.
Jiyong was aware of the decision he just made. He had never felt THIS right about anything in his life and somehow, someway, he felt like he would never regret the decision that he made tonight.
Tonight, he chose to be selfish for once.
Tonight, he chose to give all of himself to her.
Tonight, he chose to love her with all his might.
That night, the inevitable happened.
That night, he became hers and she became his.
