Blazing Dragons !

Oct 12, 2008 00:41

It's been two weeks since my last post therefore this post in going to be a summary of the two last weeks.

College is very tiring. Although I only have eleven hours a week, I begin at nine o'clock in two days. And since I've got public transports to take (train & underground), I've got to wake up at 6:30 in the morning. i'm not a morning person and I usually don't sleep when I get up that early. Besides, I recently begin the nasty habit of staying up until four in the morning. And why ? To see an old cartoon I used to watch when I was younger ?

Anyone remember  Blazing Dragons ? (Sacrés Dragons)

I looooooved it as a child and I still do *w* What I love in this cartoon is that you can watch it at every age :D There are different level of reading :D And funny thing is, I still ship Flicker/Flame and Sir Blaze is still my favourite character 8D Some things don't change 8D

And because of this cartoon, I went into a 'childhood cartoon searching frenzy'. I'm going to make a post about it, because damn, cartoons were so much better in that time !

But let's go back to college, shall we ?

Literature :

Well, I still don't like that class much. I think I would have liked it better if we had studied fiction rather than Poetry in the first term. I don't really like poetry and dissecting it even less. The second week we had two long poems to prepare. I got the meaning of the first right but was totally wrong on the second. The only good thing of the second week was listenning to a poem and me squeeing about the English accent. The third week was better for only one reason and a vain one. We had to write a short poem  for the second weel and she would select some to put on a blog on the net.

And guess what ? Mine was selected 8D And I'm absolutely not gloating 8D Not at all 8D

Take thaaaaat, kiddo è_é I may not be able to dissect a poem but I've still got writing abilities at least :D For those who are interested the poems are here : http://www.poetryl1.blogspot.com/ Try to find mine :D

The lesson in itself was uneventful. We studied irony a bit.

Grammar :

♥ My favourite class with Oral ♥ I love everything in that class, the lesson, the teacher XD Although we're only studying things we're supposed to know already. I don't have that much to say because it''s just cool ! We have a little exam at the beginning of each lesson.  Which lead me to a pseudo rant :

Are people stupider than before ? Or did they stop hiding it ?

Because frankly, in my class, I've got beautiful examples of teh st00pid.

I know I'm a SPESHUL SNOWFLAKES when it comes to English but not knowing the basics when you're in college ? Still translating 'le passé composé' by a present perfect, still translation too litterally ? Bwah. I know the level of English in France is BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD. I'm expecting too much of them, I know.

But if it was only that I could live with it. But they are worse. We generally see a particular aspect of the grammar and we do some exercices after. And these idiots, oh these beautiful idiots, they always do what they've just  been told not to do. The teacher expressly told us not to put the adverb between the verb and its complement. The next student to answer put the adverb inbetween.

What the frigging fuck ?

Where were you thirty seconds ago ?

She just explained it for fuck's sake !

Brains, UR DOIN IT WRONG.

French :

It's a lesson I like a lot, certainly because we're talking about myths :D It'll also be one of the lessons I shall be typing and sporking with dear Neroon :D And what's even better about it ?  She mentionned the fundies ! I was "O_O... Are we actually talking about the fundies ?' " It was on the subject of the myths and the fact that the greeks did not  literally believe in it as opposed to the fundies who believes literally in the bible.  There also a great moment in which she explained the social structure represented in some myths : Sovereign/Religion, Warrior, Workers.

That absolutely did not make me think of the three minbari cast in Babylon 5 at all. 8D

This teacher is really funny because she has no qualms about using pop culture as an exemple. She used several modern series/film like Lost, Star Wars, even Wall E. The entire class was laughing :D

When she talked about Robinson Crusoe, it reminded me of a book I studied in HS. Vendredi ou les Limbes du Pacifique, book in which Robinson fucks a flower. Trufax. And got the tip of his dick bitten by a spider. I kid you not. This book is focused on sex, it always make me wonder why I had to study it in  a catholic private school. The third week, I had forgotten my pen therefore I had to listen to memorise everything she said. We talk again about religion (Sodom and Gomorrah), had an aside about King Arthur. She talked about a french version of the myth in which Arthur was fighting on the Mont St Michel (What the hell is he doing on the Mont St Michel , he's the king of the Britons !), she also explained us how he was the perfect representation of the ideal King (which means a good king must be a cuckold 8D).

Oral :

How I love Oral ! I would have never thought  I would be so enthusiastic for an oral lesson but here it is. And it all down to the teacher ! She's wonderful, so cheerful and crazy and funny. She really makes people want to talk. She's a Mamma Mia Fan 8D  I don't have much to say, just taht it is an awesome lesson with an awesome teacher and that I actually talk a lot during the two hours :D

Analyse Image :

Like Lit, it's lesson I don't like that much. And the lesson in itself is blah. However this week, things got a little interesting. For this week, we had to find a picture with a certain point of view and do a little commentary about the effect of this point of view. I used a still of The Dark Knight . And she liked it and I got an A- which is actually quite good for a first time :D BATMAN HAS NO LIMITS.

Comprehension :

I haven't that much to say about this one. Infortunately it's my last hour of the week, I'm generally too tired and so are most of the students. It's mainy translation and understanding the function of the grammatical categories of words. Translation is hard for me since I don't translate myself, I don't need it. I'm already thinking in English :D

That's it for the two weeks. I will try to post more frequently in the next week :D And not always about college :D

PS : Remember Appaloosa and the gay subtext ? This is not subtext but FUCKING text. Everett literally says he's with Virgil. I kid you not. After Brokeback Mountain and 3:10 to Yuma, now Appaloosa, Western is the new gay *w*

PPS: Next Film, next week : Tropic Thunder ! (Btw, I've updated the 2008 part of my FilmsList ^^)

PPSS : The Europe concert of X-Japan is looking less and less possible. Still no tickers and Bercy is as much lost as the fans. And the fans, OhMyFuckingGawd, they're brainless. I was debating with one of them on a certain forum mainly populated by brainless VK Fantards. And this one, oh this one is the kind of  fans that can't say that Yoshiki screwed up because it'll make him cry. It's the kind of fans that you inwardly know that he wants to shag Yoshiki.

And it's also the kind of fans that can't type properly, don't know grammar or spelling. For the Frenchies here, to show you the extent of the st00pid he wrote : 'pied d'estale' instead of 'piédestal'. I'm scarred for life. He's nineteen and he can't spell it. I swear this guy never opened a book in his whole life.
